Ok, this is a BIG ask and I don't hold much hope in getting a definate answer but here goes..........

Many many years ago I recall reading an article in The Ring magazine which was a 1979 or 1980 era edition.

There was a big feature on this novice boxer. All that I can recall is that he was at the time about 8 to 10 years old, which would now make him in his mid 30's.

All I can remember is the picture of a little skinny black American kid with a huge Afro type haircut, which was the fashion at the time.

There was also a load of stuff about the pwner of the gym this kid trained in saying he was the most talented kid he had ever seen etc etc etc .

But I have no idea who that kid was, as I forgot his name years ago.

Although I have a similar question, can anyone remember this British kid featured on GMTV about 10 years ago when they did like a Jim'll fix it type segment about meeting your heores. This kid named Leon something (black) he must have only been 8-10 hero was Barry McGuigan and they went to the gym. He was mightly impressive on the speed ball, heavy bag and skipping rope. Barry said, if he plays his cards right he is going to the top. Who was he? Where is he now.

Don't suppose it was Leon McKenzie, who choose Professional football for a living instead?
