How Can You Not Lose Respect For David Haye?

Post by Cotto16 »

It looks like he will be taking on Audley Harrision.

Is David Haye serious? The fight everyone wants to see is him vs a Klitschko.

But yet he is fighting a man who 18 months ago was beaten by Martin Rogan and has already been beat by Michael Sprott, Dominick Guinn, and Danny Williams.

What has really Audley really done to get a world title shot? Winning the circus act 3 round prizefighter? Winning the European title from a jouryman?

Are people forgetting that going into the 12th Sprott was ahead ON ALL CARDS, but Audley managed to KO him, due to Sprott being tired.

Audley vs Haye is a mismatch, and Haye expects us to take him seriouly by fighting Audley?

He has called the Klitschko brothers out, over and over the past 2 years. But yet keeps making excuses/injuries to pull out of the fight with them.....

No kidding, if the WBA allows this it will further tarnish their World Title's reputation. If Haye wants to fight Audley so bad, he should face Chagaev first as he earned the right to fight for the title after beating Meehan. If Haye beats Chagaev, he can fight Audley if he wants to but it should be a non-title grudge match as Audley has done nothing to deserve a WBA title shot. Harrison has 8 wins in his last 10, which has hardly been sterling competition. If Haye doesn't want to fight either Klitschko, he should just say so instead of making lame excuses. I hope the WBA has the common sense to quash a title fight between Haye and Harrison and if Haye tries to push it, the WBA should strip him and give it to someone more deserving.

Doesn't the fact that this was an elimiator for their title further tarnish their reputation anyway?

Why does it look like he is going to fight Harrison? Because is said so in the News of the World.

Oh well then that must be what is going to happen, I mean if you can't believe what the News of the World tells you then what can you believe.

Get a grip, his next fight is not going to be against Harrison.

im excited about it

i dont see what the fuss is about.

there are three champs holding alphabets titles ....1 and 2 are brothers so we wont have a Linear World champ for a while.

as for Haye ...hes exciting to watch and i dont mind him taking a few defences...im still fairly sure that a Klit fight will happen at some stage

as for the WBA...who cares, the ratings are a joke and there are no real contenders of note

bring on Audley v Haye ......its fun

Bound to happen, big pay day for both, easy night for Haye, large sanctioning fee for WBA.

Not surprised its happening if indeed it does and don't really have such strong views as the above posters.

Disappointed? Yes a bit but its a business after all and a relatively safe defence for perhaps 1m or possibly more if it sells like it probably will over here is not to be sniffed at.

Never really bought into the Haye will fight anybody hype, thats all it was when he had no bargaining tools having moved up from cruiser, he had to make some sort of inroads or he would have had to have six or so fights and with his chin and hands I am not sure he would have come through unscathed to be honest.

So he got himself noticed with the verbal onslaught against the Klitschko boys, it worked to a certain degree you have to be honest but one big payday against Klitschko and it could be over, whereas Harrison and then Chagaev or Adamek, followed by a Klitschko makes more economic sense for Haye.

I just think he has realised he can probably beat almost anyone out there with the possible exception of the Klits and he is going to take every advantage of it.

Don't blame him really there are too many boxers on the scrapheap without a penny after entertaining us for many years good luck to him.

You could ask what did Haye do to deserve his chance,it's not about who deserves what it's about who negotiates what and for who,i'm excited about it to be honest and can see that there will be big public interest,i maybe wrong but we'll see

I hope Haye fights either Chagaev or Adamek. I also think Dennis Boystov would have a legitimate claim at a World Title shot since he has the WBA IC title and a fairly good record at 27-0 against so-so competition.

I honestly believe Harrison will spring a surprise and stop Haye.

In a stunning upset.

It will serve Haye right for messing about and ducking the Klit brothers.

It will then be Audely who cashes in with big pay day with the Klit brothers.

Thats not the script I know - but real life has a nasty habit of ripping up the script when fate plays its hand.

This really is Audelys chance to become World Heavyweight Champion - I think he nails Haye and takes him out.

I agree the best in the division should be fighting each other, but a Haye-Harrison fight could happen for a number of reasons so I i'm not losing respect for him (yet)

- Easy money

- Sky may be pushing for this

- Klitschko may still be demanding too much in negotitations.

- Haye could simply hold out to show his worth. An Audley fight would get good numbers - gate and ppv - and strengthen his hand later for negotiations with the K's.

Even if he has not made up his mind, I can also see the sense in him seeing what happens in the Chagaev - Meehan and V Klitschko - Sosnowski fights first.

Good post :TU:

I was a big fan of Hayes not so long ago .. he really was a breath of fresh air. Honest in and outside the ring :TU:

Sadly, since his move to heavyweight he has changed into the type of boxer that irritates me..

All mouth and hype .. yet very little to back it up :witzend:
He is no longer exciting to watch .. how anybody can think the Valuev and Ruiz fight was exciting is beyond me :-?

And it would seem. The K-Brothers are desperate to fight him.

No. It really does seem as if he has his eye firmly set on making his money ... which is fair enough. But stop the trash talk ffs :witzend:

Money I guess...you can't resent him that. Booth wants to make him money before he gets ironed out by either Klitschko

Wlad fought Byrd in 2006, not sure why that is considered recent, yet you fail to mention top ten opponents in Ibragimov, Chagaev, and Chambers that he has fought more recently. Thompson is top ten as well and Austin is around top 15. Audley on the other hand is at best a top 30 fighter.

Vitali has beaten Gomez, Peter, Arreola, and Johnson since his comeback in 2008. Three of those fighters (Gomez, Peter, and Arreola) were generally considered top ten opponents and even Johnson was rated tenth by The Ring when Klitschko beat him.

If Haye fights one of the Klitschko's immediately after this fight I won't have a big problem with it, but recent comments about waiting to see how Vitali looks against Sosnowski make me feel as if Haye is trying to drag this out until one of brothers is slowing down. I doubt a Klitschko-Haye fight will happen until someone is past their best.

I think some of the people who posted on this thread must have smoked something strong. No way in hell Audley Harrison is beating David Haye. The guy could hardly beat Michael Sprott ffs.
