Choi: Back on 4 June
Choi: Back on 4 June
Choi's next fight (against 'TBA') will apparently be on 4 June, at the York Hall, after a long period of inactivity and injury.
Any details on who he's fighting and whether an opportunity to fight for a title is in the pipeline would be much appreciated...

Re: Choi: Back on 4 June
Good news.
With the right world class promoters/management. Choi could of been a legit world champion.
Sad just how avoided he really is, and how no world class promoters have interest in him.
Damn, boxing can be a corrupt sport......

Yes, agree. He must me getting on in years now aswell, shame that his what would have been his best years may have gone but still think he's a stong enough force and will do something as long as he gets the right breaks.Cotto16 wrote:Good news.

So, it's a picture featuring three men inside a boxing ring. Two of these men are wearing boxing kit, the other is in formal attire. One of the men in boxing kit is face-down on the floor, the other is wheeling away, apparently celebrating, and the third man, who one must assume is the referee, is standing between them.jBacca wrote:What's the pic about?NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:indeed![]()
Hmm, I wonder indeed, what is this pic about?
Re: Choi: Back on 4 June
thinking the same as you jbacca
Re: Choi: Back on 4 June
I think he meant the fact that it is of Derry face down, and not a photo of the many other fights or knockdowns Choi had - I know JBacca is a Scouser.oliverfennell wrote:So, it's a picture featuring three men inside a boxing ring. And Cotto16 you do talk some shite - Boxing is corrupt because no world class promoter was interested in Choi and he was avoided?
Re: Choi: Back on 4 June
Exactly. Thought it was a bit unnecessary.Smigga wrote:I think he meant the fact that it is of Derry face down, and not a photo of the many other fights or knockdowns Choi had - I know JBacca is a Scouser.oliverfennell wrote:So, it's a picture featuring three men inside a boxing ring. Geographical alignments aside, I think it's just that Choi has a lot of fans among us hardcore followers, and the Derry KO got a lot of people excited at the time. However hos career has stalled since then and it remains his best, and most famous, win.jBacca wrote:Exactly. Thought it was a bit unnecessary.

I wouldn't question your motive mate, but NEBF does come across as the bitter type now and again (no offence NEBF).oliverfennell wrote:Geographical alignments aside, I think it's just that Choi has a lot of fans among us hardcore followers, and the Derry KO got a lot of people excited at the time. Re: Choi: Back on 4 June
good grief I've been called bitter twice now in a month....wrong on both counts by the way. Derry is clearly a pal or somebody you follow. It was not intended to be a slight on the man whatsoever....apologies to Derry if that's what it looked like.jBacca wrote:I wouldn't question your motive mate, but NEBF does come across as the bitter type now and again (no offence NEBF).oliverfennell wrote:Geographical alignments aside, I think it's just that Choi has a lot of fans among us hardcore followers, and the Derry KO got a lot of people excited at the time. Oliver is bang on the money. A lot of people look out for Choi's results, I've met the fella a few times, had him at my house. I merely chose the picture as there isn't a massive selection to pick from on Google Images...that are recent anyway....and this was one of his most recent, and probably his best result. I thought also it might make the thread more talked about instead of it dying on it's arse...and that worked lol.
Once again, no offence to Derry...on the flip side I wouldn't like it if it was my mate ...and it's not like Derry was seriously hurt or I wouldn't have put it up...obviously.
Hope that eases any sensitive types out there
Re: Choi: Back on 4 June
nb. why the bloody hell would I want to take a swipe at Derry Matthews or anyone that's done nowt to me?? Columbo read less between the lines than that..and Columbo was the best around
