Leapai and Cameron are the only blokes in this region that i've heard anything.

I was thinking the same thing, Heavys have been very inactive this year and are failing to capatilize on the last couple of years good work.

Reading between the lines, Hoppa may be giving boxing a rest whilst playing lower grade rugby:

Is this the end for Hoppa in the ring and a potential new franchise for the hot dog stand at Manly Oval?

At least training twice a week and playing on Saturday will help his fitness.

Hopoate, Mirovic, Leapai and Meehan have all fought in the last few months.

Yes Michael is out for a while, but when the IRON RHINO comes back everyone is going to love some of the new things he's gunna bring to the table and he's been very successful at rematches as well so we'll just have to wait and see.

Michael needs to run his record up a bit, otherwise people might refuse rematch's based on risk vs reward.

True that ,first fight back won't be a real wild one.
But then you know what Michaels like, I can't control which fighter he wants to take out.He just wants um and I have to get um.

Fighters like Michael win me over, all heart with balls the size of Rhinoceros, but i think a quick 4 fights to bring him up to 10-3 would be more appealing to others, and managers and promoters might see this as a more rewarding accomplishment to step in with Kirby....little do they know that you'll need a brick in each glove, and a bigger heart than the Iron rhino himself.

I would understand if he took a couple of quick fights to put himself in a position to negotiate a more financially rewarding purse. As long as he returns to stepping up against the best in the region.

I'll just go off the subject about Michael Kirby at the moment and talk about all our Aussie Heavyweights .
I was watching the Vitali Klitschko fight today he done what was expected of him but on the undercard there was the NABF title a legitimate Heavyweight title for the United States Championship it featured between Johnathon Banks and Jason Gavern.
Now the amount of holding ,no workrate , no fitness, and no inside combinations or outside clean boxing that I seen any of our top Heavyweights like Kirby, leapai,Haumono,Nathan Briggs Justin Whitehead and an inform Colin Wilson would have belted the crap out of those 2 Yanks without doubt .
So I'm very happy about our Heavyweight scene at the moment and I know they will do Australia proud.

yes there seems to be this belief that fighters in europe and the usa r simply better than ours just because they r amongst the action so to speak and they clearly have many more numbers. although that is largely true it is not the case for every individual.

i know our heavies r not superstars but leapai may just surprise a little if he can keep improving. mark de mori shows plenty of great qualities although he never fights anymore. and if haumono puts in the hard yards and can keep improving than he too may be able to claim some respectable scalps.

Mostyn Niemann seems like he would be a good prospect in the cruiserweight division he stopped Scott Lewis but so did Shane Tilyard
in similar fashion ,but it didn't do Tilyard any good when he fought other Heavys . If anyone thinks that Mostyn Niemann is a legitimate Heavyweight prospect then he should fight another Heavyweight prospect with the same amount of PRO fights like Ben Edwards then we will what MR Niemann is worth as a HEAVYWEIGHT.

Although most were impressed with Niemann, i think he done well, but when hit by Lewis seemed a little lost.

Cruiserweight is his division, he doesn't have the height weight factor to be competitive at heavy.
