froch hits out at hennesey!
"(Mick) Hennessy reckons that he had a deal to get the fight in Nottingham. Then he said it was only a handshake so I've not had the best job done with me in terms of getting the fight in Nottingham. I wish I'd done the deal myself and you can quote me on that. I'd have made sure I had it on paper."
"The reason I went out to Denmark was because I was told my next fight would be at home, and now it's all unfolding that we have to see what makes more commercial sense. But at the end of the day if we can get this fight with good promotion, in fact I emphasise that it has to be with great promotion, then we can get this fight sold-out in Nottingham."
could this be the beggining of the end for froch-hennesey??

So Froch hits out at Hennessy for not getting it written on paper, yet Froch takes Hennessy's word and doesn't check it's a signed and sealed deal himself?
Now whilst it isn't Froch's job to get the deal on paper, he made the assumption Hennessy had it concrete. All Froch had to do was ask Hennessy if it's a signed and sealed deal.
As for Hennessy being a crap promotor, yes he is Mickey Mouse. His shows were very good, but the exposure he gets his fighters is not what they deserve. Nor is their inactivity deserved.
As HOBB said, it's only a matter of time before those mentioned leave him, especcially Murray who's made for Hatton.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
froch lost his last fight, and when the bubble bursts, these things start to happen. froch is also talking about retirement if he loses to abraham.
not a great place to be, as there have been many controversies in germany, such as abraham-miranda 1 and ottke-reid - going in to the most crucial fight of your career (i..e you're out of the super 6 if you lose). abraham also has to win it, so the germans will get away with anything they can.
sauerlands are a tight bunch of bastits though, as both their fighters will end up getting home advantage over froch.

froch can still go into semi finals even if he loses , depending , i think , on ward beating dirrell and green.Autobarn wrote:froch lost his last fight, and when the bubble bursts, these things start to happen. froch is also talking about retirement if he loses to abraham.

Expect a controversial decision for Dirrell then, leading to the trash talk between former friends building up to an all-American final!damianhucker1 wrote:froch can still go into semi finals even if he loses , depending , i think , on ward beating dirrell and green.Autobarn wrote:froch lost his last fight, and when the bubble bursts, these things start to happen. froch is also talking about retirement if he loses to abraham.

Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
I think it's a bit of both.
Froch is gutted because he got beat. But he got beat fair and square (I said he would on here before when prople were talking about Froch/Calzaghe). After a loss there is always a promoter or trainer or cat or goldfish to blame.
At the same time, Hennesey may be a promoter out of his depth a little with this tournament. But if so, only a little. Gary Shaw aint worth a light and Dan Goosen is a joke but to be fair, ther Germans know what they are doing. That said he aint locking horns with King or Warren so he probably should have done a bit better by Froch.
The truth is, whichever way you slice it, (and seriously, I'm not saying I told you so) Froch was never going to beat Kessler. And that is nobady's fault, thats just boxing.

Gary Shaw is an excellent promoter from a fans point of view. He more than anyone is willing to make fights the fans want to see and doesn't baby any of his fighters.martin_g91 wrote:I think it's a bit of both.

Froch is pi$$ed off and feeling the pressure in my opinion. He thinks he won his last fight even though he clearly didn't and now he might have to go to Germany and face a guy he's very unlikely to knock out. That means he's got to clearly win on the scorecards, because he probably won't get any favours.
Not a good situation to be in, especially when he was led to believe he'd be fighting at home for sure. Andre Ward is the one who has got things easy here. All his fights will be at home, so Goossen has done a good job for him in that respect and the others have dropped the ball.

"Gary Shaw is a excellent promoter from a fans point of view" - Carl Fraoch is not a fan, he is (was) a World Champion. "He does not baby his fighters" - there is a big difference between "Babying" a fighter and throwing him into wars for no reason. The place inbetween is building a boxer and his career, making the most of what he has and looking after his well being. That is an excellent promoter. That is not Gary Shaw. He watched Jeff Lacy get the bollocks knocked out of him for 11 and a half rounds against Calzaghe then got up in the last minuite and said stop the fight. Ask Lacy how good a promoter he is. That night was the end of his career. (one example)ArtOfWar wrote:Gary Shaw is an excellent promoter from a fans point of view. I agree with you on this situation that Froch now finds himself in. I wouldn't be happy. However, if he had been robbed against Kessler (which he wasn't) or he hadn't already won in an opponents back yard (which he has) I think he would have a better arguement. If what I read is true he is asking for nutural gound. If he can get that, I would consider it a result and go for it.
As for Goosen, as I understand it, he said it was the only way he would go into the tournament (when discussion were in a "what if" stage with showtime) and they let him keep the deal. Fair play. But if they pushed him he would have done it for sure.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
It is funny how this is all happening AFTER the Kessler fight. When the Super Six was all planned out, us Joe Public knew (and it wasn't us insinuating, we were "practically" told) that Froch would have to travel to fight Abraham. Jim Rosenthal on ITV highlighted that Froch will likely have to travel to face Abraham - that was way before he fought Dirrell.
So why is he all surprised now.
He's just throwing his toys out of the pram.
Only one controvesial decision so far, and that was in Nottingham.

Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
gary shaw does push his fighters into hard fights, often into the deep end, as we saw with lacy vs calzaghe.
but he's had a hand in putting some great fights on, for instance corrales-castillo 1 and he was marquez's promoter for the marquez-vazquez fights.
obviosly, he wants the TV money and some of his fighters are damaged goods not long afterward.

Yep, Froch is having a hissy fit over that. He should consider himself extremely lucky not to have two losses on his record, or at least one loss and a draw.stujones wrote:It is funny how this is all happening AFTER the Kessler fight. His moaning is getting on my nerves to be honest.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
dirrell wasn't going to get the decision after all that negativity. it wasn't great from froch but in my eyes it was enough because the other guy was shitting himself and was fighting that way, spoiling all the action. if a guy throws himself on the floor to avoid shots, i'd rather give the guy standing up some credit, however little. dirrell was hardly making many friends, on the biggest night of his life, away from home, for a world title, in a major US TV date. froch did land plenty of lead lefts, not great shots but at least he was doing something positive.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Yep, Froch is having a hissy fit over that. BUT, i would like to see froch take his anger out on arthur abraham, rather than all this moaning from him. he needs to use his feelings constructively, and shouldn't risk coming across as a whiner to the boxing media and fans.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
saying it would sell out in Nottingham sounds a bit desperate....it would sell out in Switzerland or Austria too probably almost if not completely.
Froch doesn't think he can beat Abrahams clearly enough or at all, so he wants another favour like he got against Dirrell. I'm not saying he didn't, or did, win that fight...but he was given it by bigger margins than merited if memory serves, probly cos it was round the corner from his house.
How can I get hold of Froch Kessler btw?? It ain't on Youtube.

Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
Please Please Please Autobarn, watch the fight with the sound down and count how many times in each round Dirrell was on the back foot running. Seriously, you'll be surprised.... for large periods on the fight it was Dirrell doing more, on the front foot throwing, admittedly, non-hard jab (but landing, scoring shots) and Froch did nothing but look for the counter. Even when Froch put on the pressure, Dirrell was outboxing him with the jab. He was backing Froch up, alot more than Froch backed him up..... seriously, watch the fight again.
I agree, Dirrell might have lost a couple of rounds solely on being negative... but a couple of rounds doesn't make a fight.
I do actually agree with Froch, had that Kessler vs Froch fight taken place in Nottingham, Froch might have got the decision.... sadly though, that just says alot about us. I actually think the Kessler vs Froch fight was closer than Dirrell vs Froch.
Froch lost both in my eyes.... Kessler fight by 2, Dirrell fight by at least 4.

good points mate. also froch aint as good as people think the reason the fights are going to europe is because froch outside nottingham wouldn't fill any boxing venue the same as calzaghe had to fight on hatton/khan undercards but at least hatton/khan are good tele fighters and froch is boring to watch ??

He will lose some of his stars soon, if he cant get a TV deal.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
What a bore. Just don't leave it to the judges, Carl. If you really are that good, then get your opponent out of there within regulation.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
froch needs to stop being a fanny and fight where he needs to, he's always crying about where the fights are taking place, if it was up to him he would only fight in nottingham, hoping for the hometown judging.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
Carl can't complain about the Kessler loss. Firstly it was a great scrap, but secondly he seemed too casual at times when he should have pressed the action.
It's the scores that irked him... Tilleman gave him 1 round out of the first 10... then the last 2 rounds, where the other judges gave them last 2 rounds to Kessler, yet Tilleman gave them to Carl... obviously concerned his bias will be too visible.
Tilleman gave Kessler a warm hug and almost shook his hand off at the weigh in. Yet blanked Froch and his team !
Might sound a storm in a teacup, but that's at the forefront of their minds if it's gonna go ahead in Berlin.
From a nuetral standpoint, Saulerland have had two disastrous away trips with Kessler & Abraham, where officiating was utter pants. Now they are backing their guys to the hilt with every trick in the book they can muster.
Froch can beat Arthur Abraham, but he's gonna get stiched up good and proper out there.. fo sho !

I think he's going to be knocked out good and proper against Abraham.
Re: froch hits out at hennesey!
Is that right? I thought Tilleman's score was wide, but just about feasible. Scoring it that way is outright terrible though. That sounds an awful like what happened in the Reid-Ottke fight, in terms of scoring. (I know Tilleman was the ref that night, before anyone mentions it).G0mez wrote:
