Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
Former English heavyweight title holders Tyson Fury and John McDermott will meet for the second time in 10 months on Friday 25th June, in what will be one of the most eagerly awaited rematches that the UK has seen in recent years.
The British Final Eliminator clash between the two heavyweights will take place in front of the Sky Sports HD cameras at the Brentwood Centre, Brentwood.
“After discussions and us agreeing to the terms of the fight, contracts were signed and sealed yesterday, so it’s down to serious training for the next 4 weeks” said the Unbeaten Fury
Fury outpointed McDermott in a closely fought contest over 10 rounds back in September when he was crowned the English Champion.
“I can’t wait for this one as there was a lot of controversy surrounding my win in September last year, but it wasn’t a 100% Tyson who won on that night. It was my first 10 rounder and maybe I wasn’t prepared for a war as much as I should have been, but I will make sure no stone is left unturned this time”.
“McDermott gained my respect that night for being one hell of a tough fighter”. Added Fury.
Fury recorded his 10th consecutive win against German Hans-Joerg Blasko back in March when the referee jumped in and stopped the contest after knocking his opponent to the floor twice in the 1st round.
"I got caught with a couple of silly shots that night against Blasko which was frustrating but we've been working hard on improving my defence, but what people have to remember is that I am still only 21, I still have a lot to learn and one of the things that the McDermott fight has taught me was not to underestimate my opponents, but I still believe I done enough against him to win on the night”
Mick Hennessy Said: “Due to a delay with the licence application, the new Manchester venue did not receive approval in reasonable time, so promoting this great event would have been very difficult in such a short space of time. So we applied to the board for an extension for the contest to take place on the 17th July, but this request was rejected. So Tyson and myself have agreed to the terms and the new date in the spirit of getting this fight on so Tyson can set the record straight once and for all and then move on”
Fury added “John showed that night he is one of the best heavyweights in Britain apart from me and David Haye. John would beat the likes of Chisora or Harrison if he had the opportunity.”
“We will both have earned it so Win, Lose or Draw I hope John will join me for a Big Mac and fries after the fight, my shout”
Tickets for this clash of the Heavyweights on the 25th June are available from http://www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508. Prices are £40 and £90

Re: Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
#Does anyone seriously think McDermott can even last the fight this time.
Last time Fury was sluggish and still won 8 rounds to 2. (bit harsh i had it 7 to 3).
Fury on form will defo stop McD in 2

Don't get me wrong Falkor, I like Tyson Fury and hope he beats McDermott this time but no way did he win the first fight in my opinion. He seems to be a nice guy when he isn't talking shit 90% of the time. After seeing him a few times now, I can't see him getting past British level.falkor wrote:people need to gve the kid credit, still young and fighting for titles .

too early to tell but he will easily win a european in 3 years.
can he reach the world title, wouldnt put it past him if he listens and learns
Re: Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
british and european are both winnable titles for him, lack of power will stop him making it to world level

Re: Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
Is McDermott training hard? Is Fury training hard? I haven't seen them since the first fight, so this one could depend on who has trained the best. In other words, who wants it more?
I hope McDermott punishes him.

Re: Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
McDermott would beat the likes of Chisora
Nice to see that Tyson has been having a few tough fights, so he gets some experience at ten rounders
Blasko........Down twice in the first round
Jeez

Re: Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
Fury Is no good. Skelton smashed John in a round. Fury should have lost the first I don't see anything good in him. Chisora is main man at domestic level. I think del boy would knock him out!

Can't see fury winning how has he improved ?crusader wrote:X2alexpaterson wrote:I see Fury winning comfterably on points this time around, I hope im wrong as I cant stand Fury
Re: Fury vs. McDermott: Fight Night Round 2 is ON!!
I felt McDermott gave one of his best performances this first time around and it still wasn't enough. I think Fury was over confident going into the first fight and despite his public displays of bravado, I believe he is taking McDermott more seriously this time. I think Fury will probably use his jab more and will do a better job of boxing McDermott than he did in their original encounter. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a more well defined game plan than he did for the first fight.leforge wrote:Can't see fury winning how has he improved ?crusader wrote:X2alexpaterson wrote:I see Fury winning comfterably on points this time around, I hope im wrong as I cant stand Fury
Although many people on the forum think McDermott won the first fight handily, I thought it was a very closely contested bout that Fury could have turned his way with some slight changes.
I will be very glad if I am mistaken however, because I am not a Fury fan.

I don't really think that much of Fury either. I will be cheering for McDermott this time around and hopefully he pulls it out.leforge wrote:crusader wrote:I felt McDermott gave one of his best performances this first time around and it still wasn't enough.
