Ricky Hatton fronts his own TV chat show

Post by nigeltsport »

Ricky Hatton has today launched the first programme in a new series on Hatton TV.

"The Ricky Hatton Boxing Show" features the Hitman introducing a topical boxing debate with his guests Jamie Moore, the former European Light middleweight Champion & Micky Cantwell, the ex British Flyweight Champion.

The programme includes an exclusive "fly on the wall" report from Ricky as he visits Scott Quigg in his training camp for Saturday's fight against Russia's Andrei Kostin at the Castle Leisure Centre in Bury.

The programme can be viewed now by visiting Ricky's Page on the Hatton website

I'd like to see Jamie Moore get a regular TV gig. He talks well, has opinions, is respected for his achievements and looks the part (when he isn't wearing that schoolboy outfit he wore on Sky for the Rhodes fight!). That aside, quite enjoyed this little show, although it was obviously very Hatton Promotions orientated. It's nice to hear fighters and trainers talking among themselves rather than have the usual band of generic TV talking heads interjecting with their inane, stilted drivel. I'll tune in again.

Problem having Jamie Moore is that outside of us - very few people would have even heard of him :-? ( I mean that as no slant to Jamie :TU: )

I think its great that hatton has been given the oppurtunity to do something like this. If boxing was more mainstream then more and more boxers would have chances to do things like this after their fighting career is over.

Henry Cooper did well, as did Bruno, Eubank/Benn. Sadly the demise of boxing on BBC and ITV has put an end to boxers becoming `celebrities` ... the only one we will prob have is Amir `Roland Rat` Khan... :( .. god help us " yeah, Yeah .. "

It's Jamie!

Wasn't really thinking of him as a presenter, but he's got a lot more cred and charisma than Nicky Piper, for one. He'd freshen up the Sky panel I think.

I would like Jamie Moore and Spencer Oliver to get more time on SKY, maybe in the studio or Oliver could maybe commontate with Darke and Watt in the studio with Moore, Dave darts and Johnny Nelson

There is also Glenn McCrory as well the former Cruiserweight champion as well and Wayne McCulloagh as well to consider as well. But I like Nicky Piper he forthright and honest in his assessment of fighters and has got a good track record which respects (abet not as good as Barry McGuigan's mind you).

Top show - where else could you see three guys sitting around just talking boxing ? Imagine the sort of guests Ricky could get on the show if he put his mind to it - he must have numbers for virtually everyone we'd all like to hear from. It would be good to get away from the usual pundits. The Sky lot have been around too long and are very predictable.....

I actually enjoyed it. FFS Hatton might get stick for his on again off again comeback but he is out there busting his hump for boxing. The amount of shows that he has put on in the last year is phenomenal. I really appreciate his afters and their website blows every other promoters website out of the water (even if they have used my articles without a by line or crediting the source) and I go there for the video content and the PPV offering they have is good value for money. Not to mention they stepped up and showed the ABA finals as well which was good of them. How anyone can knock this is beyond me.

I just feel it's a good opportunaty missed. Great idea, great platform but it just looked poor. All three guys really know their stuff and come across well. But left to themselves to show was a mess. Put Hatton next to Moore and Cantwell, have him there every week (or whenever they do it) but for christ sake get someone with a journalist/presenting background to chair it. It COULD be great. Not to compair to two but FWTV use Colin Hart alot and it works very well.

Nothing worse than watching Sally Gunnel or Jonathon Edwards interview people at the Olympics jsut because they've done it. Gary Liniker is the only cross over that springs to mind (who's any good).

Wouldnt disagree with the to be honest. It was a first attempt at that format and yeah it needs a presenter or foil to tee up the questions for the three panelists. All that costs money though and like I said if you compare the Hatton TV offering to all the other promoters (combined!) then it is streets ahead.

It needs more energy and enthusiasm, but I like what Hatton's doing. He's done a lot for boxing recently and we should definitely back him. :TU:

It's obviously very low budget but I think it kind of works as a result of that. Be surprised if they got someone other that Ricky to "host" it, it's obviously a vehicle to plug him and his company's shows first and foremost. Good effort though, certainly seen worse
