Thanks for the candid reply.
Obviously there are issues that are burning at you from the past, and those issues are personal to you and the other party.
I fully respect that.
I guess what I was trying to say, and probably not putting it well, is that where Nicky is concerned those issues are best filed for future reference if you get me.
I sincerely hope Nicky gets the breaks, re discovers his old ways, skills and abilities and comes back stronger and wiser.
I hope Denis can make some moves Promotionally for him, even if it means doing a bit of sub contracting with another Promotor.
Sheffield is a city with a rich tradition in boxing.
I just sense the city is on its way back with some good kids coming through and a few of the old gits still showing how it's done.
Nicky can and should be a part of that, but I can only say what I feel and calling Curtis out in this way just because of who he is trained by - well it's not the right approach for me.
Good luck to you all.
thanks and I understand where ur comin from and like I said curtis woodhouse is just in the firing line but he did say to dennis he wants to fight nicki now he's back and it would be good for sheffield boxing although curtis is not from ere but his blades connections are enough, I can honestly say nicki did say he won't fight me but he did take curtiss insults personal, and wants the fight, curtis might be a nice kid infact liam said he's a nice kid , and his windin up me makes me laugh but dave coldwell has already been head butted and strangled by boxers and still hasn't learnt his lesson,no boxer has done anythin to me as I av not given them a reason too, money is no issue to me I just enjoy the journeys

if nickey got offended because i said he looked fat last time i saw him he should not be so touchy i said he looked fat because he looked fat! i cant remember telling dennis i wanted to fight nicky but if dennis said i did then i probably did big deal nickey should take it as a compliment ive said in my time in boxing i wanna go up against the best so that must mean i think hes a good fighter like i said if he gets in a posistion where me fighting him advances me then as the late great marvin gaye said lets get it on if not no big deal to me thats not being clever thats just the way i see things just finished watching one of his fights he nearly got sparked! steelcity 65 you will have to read a new book on defence!! its all love dont take it personal but i must admit me against nicky china chin smedley does have a nice ring to it! lol xx

Nah, Nah, Nah he's a Blade and he's a Blade. I remember watching Curtis's debut when he came on and was asked to play left wing back for Nigel Spackman. I also remember Woodhouse being subbed midway through the second half at Huddersfield by Steve Bruce and Bruce received a chorus of boos from all the United fans in the away end because Curtis had played so well and was still a teenager. I also recall us playing Peter Reid's Sunderland at home and getting trounced 4-0, they played us off the park, yet Woodhouse was the best player on the pitch.

I've watched Sheffield United for years, I'm a realist and a long suffering supporter, I've watched some real crap and there's been some heavy falls, yet Curtis Woodhouse was a breath of fresh air. Tenacious, energetic, fearless, inspiritional, he reminded me of a young Paul Ince. I remember being so proud when he represented England U21s while being a Sheffield United player and thought Woodhouse was a "can't miss" prospect. To me, Woodhouse was better than Phil Jagielka and Michael Tonge, United's most celebrated kids of the last decade.

While Curtis had a good career and earned well I still can't fathom how he ended up plying his trade in the lower leagues. I just don't get it because he had the lot. Having watched Woodhouse hundreds of times from the terraces it took me a long time to accept him as a professional boxer, let alone take him seriously. I felt he'd wasted his career and not made the most of his talent and stand by that. He seems happier in himself though and that is what life is all about.

However, in Curtis's defence, he's proven that as a fighter he's genuinely for real. AHe's improved significantly since his debut, he's exciting, and I love the fact that he's so humble and down to earth. I hope he goes on to fulfill his dreams in Boxing and whilst I'm supposed to be impartial I can't help but wish for him to succeed.

Thanks for the reply, Curtis, and for your honesty. You were a fantastic player and I loved watching you because you grafted for the cause. As you got older you were often accused of ill-discipline (rightly or wrongly) but, as you say, boxing has lit that fire again. You've always been a terrific competitor. In hindsight, I feel bad for not taking you seriously. Why would a professional footballer earning thousands walk away to be a boxer earning (initially) only few hundred quid every other month.

Clearly this is what you want to do, the hunger is there, and this is showing in your continually improving performances. Good luck mate, you've converted a real sceptic in me.

One thing Chris, Goddings not at all bad you know. England amateur, far better dig then his record suggests and all that. He's pretty decent. Danny Thorpe boxed him and told me after he was very heavy handed. I've seen him live a few times and he does look good. Very tidy. I'd say its a very good test for you Curtis.

Glad the tone of this thread has lightened up. I saw Godding stopped by Mathew Hall in the amateurs. Like I said hee does look heavy handed- I'd be interested to see how he deals with pressure. If you give him time to box he can pick his shots really lovely- but the one time I saw him under pressure against Darren Askew he looked very flustered and notably untidy. He also went over but it was more balance then anything. The scoring was harsh in that fight it was much closer then 59-56- also he got an absolute gift against Al Hamidi on the Rhodes-Moore undercard. I thought he lost three of the four rounds. Still he's a good fighter but intelligent pressure seems the answer.

This is him sparring with Khan.
