Michael Katsidis V Amir Khan in the works

Post by ryan711 »

golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer informed BS.com that he is working on Amir Khan's next fight, which he is hopeful will take place on July 31 in England. Two of the possible opponents for Khan's next defense of the WBA junior welterweight title - are former champions Joel Casamayor and Michael Katsidis.

If Khan's fight comes together for that date, Schaefer said he would package that fight with the rematch between Juan Diaz and Juan Manuel Marquez that night at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Both would be televised as part of an HBO pay-per-view feed

Amir's fighting in July and then again in the latter part of the year. Khan vs Alexander or Khan vs Bradley will need more time for promotion, so it can't be done for July.

didnt think he'd fight Kats. I think theres gonna be some big money to be made in the JWW division very soon and he'll want to keep himself in that picture.

I dont know how long Katsidis has supposedly been Marquez's mandatory

A showdown with Guerrero still interests me, i cant remember why the original fight fell through

I think Guerrero pulled out because his wife was really struggling with her cancer and he knew he had to be 100% mentally if he was going to beat Katsidis.

Then he fought less than a month after being scheduled to fight Katsidis, i do feel for his wife tho.

I think he knew he could beat Arrieta even if he wasn't really up for it, Katsidis would run over him if he wasn't focused on boxing. I would still like to see that fight happen though. Guerrero's wife is doing better so maybe there is a chance.

The rumored fight Murray could be very entertaining. In my opinion Murray is no better than Mitchell (and he's lot slower than Mitchell) and he has built his record with the same crop of mediocre opponents. It would probably be another "0" taken by Katsidis.

I think Katsidis would roll over Murray as well, Khan Presents a challenge.
I feel for Katsidis he's now defended over the years no more than 5 or 6 times as an interim champion and the belt holder has not fought Katsidis..1st it was Diaz now it's JMM, yet there's still talk of other fighters and not JMM.

Maybe Rocky should tell the WBO to go to hell.
