Asterix, you do remember a fair few Brits coming on our boards saying Katsidis doesn't have a chance against Mitchell, and we had to endure ludicrous comments that Mitchell was the betting favorite.

Asterix your a Brit, and yet you come here without being berrated....why is that?

Oliver, if i remember correctly you have warmed to most on the board, why fight FBB fight, it's up to him to add to the forum, if he's constantly shown the door, it's up to him to work that out, not you.

Do i really have to spend all morning searching thru old threads to prove that most Brits come here purely for shiit stir?
You guys are fine with me because I show you respect, and vice versa. I guess I just wanted to show that there's good and bad from both sides. It was a bit of a non-post from me, to be honest.

You also add to the forum with unbiased comments :TU:

The only time you'll see the Aussies posting outside this one forum is when an Aussie boxer scores an international win. If they "got out more", they'd see that neither I nor FBB nor Carlos or whoever else has been labelled trolled in this one small corner of cyberspace do not get called that anywhere else.

Thanks for the support (kind of). As for FBB, yeah it's his own fight I guess, but I do think he gets unfairly criticised. The things is, as I alluded to in the previous post, if the Aussie fans ever went to the Current Scene or British boxing for anything other than gloating about Danny Green otr Michael Katsidis, they'd see that FBB is generally a big fan of all HW boxing and he often posts about - and gets excited about - lower-ranked, barely known heavyweights. For whatever reason, he has a hard-on for Okhello, and as such, this is the most appropriate board to talk about him on. It may appear strange, but it's no different to his behaviour elsewhere, so therefore it is not trolling, and it is not called trolling anywhere else.

To the second point, you are right, some have come here merely to get a rise, but I do think if you take a step back and look at it objectively, this board's reputation does precede itself. People who ARE up for a bit of trolling know this is exactly where they can come for the biggest reaction.

Speaking purely for myself, I'll admit there was a time when I could be a bit argumentative but honestly, it was just a knee-jerk reaction as I had been taken by surprise at the hostility of this board the first few times I expressed something that went against the party line.

Eventually I figured out the atmosphere of the board and adjusted myself and over time, as you said, things smoothed out somewhat. But Marlin just won't let it go. He calls me a "sad little man" or whatever it was he said, but all I've ever done is express the opinions I'm entitled to about a sport I follow passionately. That's not sad, what's sad is bleating about "Waaaah, he said not nice about Ben Crampton" or whatever and holding a lifelong grudge.

I was actually one of the very first people to post on this board and I thanked whoever was responsible for setting it up. I've expressed then highly controversial opinion that Aussie boxing does not do as well as it should for a First World nation with such a sporting culture, but that doesn't mean I can't or don't enjoy watching Aussie boxers, or support some of them, or that some of them are relevant to world or British/Commonwealth boxing. Therefore I like to visit this board and will continue to do so, regardless of the presence of certain sooks who come fancy themselves as North Korean PR men ("Death to all infidels who dare to insult our Dear Leader Danny Green!").

Hounddawg, Brute, Toppity, etc, we have clashed in the past but yes, things are OK now. Marlin, let it go, "mate". I have nothing against you because why would I have? The ill-feeling is all one-way. It's a grudge. It's even "sad". Case in point, yes, fair enough, FBB can fight his own battles, so maybe I needn't have said anything in his defence, but I was responding to something Brute said to him, and somehow Marlin used THAT as leverage to get at ME again.

Why don't I go to any other board with "the sole purpose of annoying" then?

Do you honestly not see any validity whatsoever in the points non-Aussies make here?

Why does FBB supporting Okhello upset you so much? Simply because Okhello is an Asia-Pacific boxer and, as such, FBB roots for him to beat other guys in that region?

Honestly, if the opinion that Meehan could beat Haye was expressed anywhere else on the internet but this board, people there would say it was the work of trolls.

We're all boxing fans and as such we have our likes and dislikes. Brits go on the Current Scene and praise or criticise American boxers as they see fit. They criticise their own where appropriate. Non-Brits can criticise Brits on the Brit board, and while they naturally may be met with opposition, they're not going to get lablled "trolls". It's taken in the spirit intended - boxing discussion.

Honestly, I wish I had nothing better to do with my time than think "hey, high on today's agenda is piss off a bunch of Aussie blokes who I don't know and who I don't even know the real names of", but it ain't like that. I come to the Aussie board because - and SHOCK, here's a positive comment -it is relevant to international boxing. If I was a troll, why wouldn't I go to the boards that attract more than three nations and start posting contentious stuff there? Where is the evidence of me going on to any other board with "the sole intention of annoying" anyone? Ask yourself why I come under fire here and not elsewhere? I mean, it couldn''t POSSIBLY be the fault of anyone here, could it?

As it is, I comment on Meehan-Chagaev and give Meehan credit for an earnest effort, but point out the entirely, based on the evidence, fair comment that, with three clear losses at world level and at age 40, he probably isn;t going to develop into a world-level force. I think anywhere else in cyberspace, that would be consider "fair comment", not "trolling".

As for FBB, his support of Okhello would probably considered eccentric at worst, and after all, you guys always say you should be free to support your boxers even if their limitations are understood. So, it's OK to support Colin Wilson (which it is), but supporting Okhello is "trolling"?

It would be nice if you answered any of my points, but please, by all means feel free to live down to my expectations and simply tell me to fck off, call me names, or, better still - as is usually your style when I make valid points - ignore this post completely.
Because you only like to try and belittle Australia in a vain attempt at superiority. You relish in the fact you can say "hey I'm not trolling I'm just keeping it real... now, let me tell you why you guys are so bad...". It is not the fault of anyone here, we all agree that you add nothing positive/constructive to the discussion here. If we are all in agreement perhaps you need to look at yourself instead of us, or of course you could continue to believe you are right and us stupid Aussie's can't see the light.

I fully agree about Meehan, I was worried about his inactivity proir to the bout as well. I also think it is fair comment that any heavyweight who can punch can beat Haye.

We have great boxing discussion here and enjoy the contributions of blokes like Asterix and other fellas who come here to talk boxing. We don't like people who come on here to gibber and try and run us down with a holier than thou attitude.

As for FBB, my first point would be why do you think you need to "stick up" for him? Or was it just another chance for you to say "hey look at me, I'm so good I can tell you you blokes are rubbish"? Anyway, at the very least is it fair enough to say that he has a few kangaroo's loose in the top paddock...

Fair enough, and I appreciate the effort!

Re. your assessment that I add nothing and everyone agrees - well, it's already been said (and not by me) that I do "contribute" and that most prickles have been ironed out, so please don't speak on everyone else's behalf.

I don't have a "holier than thou" attitude. If it comes across that way, very honestly it was never my intention, and again, in my own defence, while I can admit to having been argumentative in the past, that really was in response to attitudes that were shown to me here.

Asterisk is liked here but I do suspect it's because he's a very "safe" poster. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, it's just an observation.

I rate some Aussie boxers, I don't rate some others. Exactly the same as any other country in the boxing world. Therefore if I discuss boxing here, some of it will be complimentary, some of it willbe critical. I could play it safe by only posting about the positives, but I think talking about boxing's negative points is every bit as valid.

And again, YES I DO talk about positive/complimentary points when appropriate. I do not "only try and belittle Australia". The thing is, for whatever reason, you never seem to engage me in discussion when I do offer congratulations, a prediction of an Aussie win, a complimentary assessment of someone's potential, etc. I honestly think you ignore such instances because they go against your erroneous but immovable opinion of what I stand for.

For the record, a quick digest of pro-Aussie stuff I've said recently: Comfortable prediction of Katsidis over Mitchell and full kudos for the win after it happened. Priase for Katsidis' personality and conduct outside the ring. Rooting for Meehan to beat Chagaev (albeit not predicting it). Support for Meehan as he was getting messed around by the WBA. Strongly fighting Danny Green's corner on the Current Scene when the Yanks were trying to discredit his Jones win, and even buying into Jones' preposterous "cheating" allegations. I've even joined in with the anti-Mundine movement, because while I used to like and rate him, he's just been taking the piss in the past couple of years.
