Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
Cant see Macklin fighting Barker,as he has eyes and heart set on world title fight, already a eoropean title holder so nothing to prove as he is no.7 in the worl,Lee is looking to Martinez for a crack, but might take a shot at barker befor, and on rankings Barker is on no.8 Lee no.17 Duddy no.26 and Murray 49.
A case for them all maybe but i think Lee is exiting as ive said before in 22 fights this fella has only lost 4 rounds,a fair record and i would put him as the best prospect of a world champion amounst the above. ;;-)

barker is also looking for a world title shot mate, so it's alright for macklin not to fight barker becus he is lower ranked but it's wrong of barker to not fight lee becus he is lower ranked?dutchie wrote:Cant see Macklin fighting Barker,as he has eyes and heart set on world title fight, already a eoropean title holder so nothing to prove as he is no.7 in the worl,Lee is looking to Martinez for a crack, but might take a shot at barker befor, and on rankings Barker is on no.8 Lee no.17 Duddy no.26 and Murray 49.

Box Rec rankings don't mean a thing. Its the 4 governing body rankings that matter.dutchie wrote:Cant see Macklin fighting Barker,as he has eyes and heart set on world title fight, already a eoropean title holder so nothing to prove as he is no.7 in the worl,Lee is looking to Martinez for a crack, but might take a shot at barker befor, and on rankings Barker is on no.8 Lee no.17 Duddy no.26 and Murray 49.

Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
Macklin is in the top 10 of the 4 main governing bodies. Barker is in none. Barker has no right chasing after a world title right now, and neither does Lee for that matter (although he is in the top 15 of 2 or 3 of the governing bodies)HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:barker is also looking for a world title shot mate, so it's alright for macklin not to fight barker becus he is lower ranked but it's wrong of barker to not fight lee becus he is lower ranked?dutchie wrote:Cant see Macklin fighting Barker,as he has eyes and heart set on world title fight, already a eoropean title holder so nothing to prove as he is no.7 in the worl,Lee is looking to Martinez for a crack, but might take a shot at barker befor, and on rankings Barker is on no.8 Lee no.17 Duddy no.26 and Murray 49.

So yes, it is okay for Macklin to do it because he has beaten the better opponents and has gotten himself into contention on the world stage, Barker has yet to.

He'll get more than a crack if he goes looking for a killing machine like Martinez, it'd be like Pavlik v Lockett all over.
Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
Didn't lee beat Barker in the Amateurs! 18-8 I know the pros are a different game but that has gotta count for something. Macklin won't bother with Barker he doesn't need to. He won that title already he doesn't need to go back.

Yes, everyone is aware of this. Amateur boxing is not the same as professional boxing. Abdullaev beat Miguel Cotto 17-7 in the Olympics and it meant nothing when the fought as professionals.limerickk wrote:Didn't lee beat Barker in the Amateurs!
Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
I am not saying it means he will win, it is just that if you are debating who would win it is an obvious point to make thats all.
Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
That fight isn't happening, after all Macklin gave up the Euro title to go box in America and get away from the Hattons. He's probably signing for Golden Boy and boxing on July 31 at the Mandalay Bay.

Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
There are countless other examples I could give you. Lee beat guys like Barker and Angulo as an amateur yet he got stopped by Brian Vera. It just goes to show that the amateurs are a different game. Another example is Yan Barthemaly. Multiple time world champ and Olympic gold medalist who has lost twice to no namers in only ten or so bouts as a pro.slapbangwhallop wrote:if you beat them as an amateur you usually beat them as a pro - f to the act!crusader wrote:Yes, everyone is aware of this. Lee has a habit of fading in fights or getting into trouble late. In the amateurs where the bouts were formerly eight minutes, that wasn't really a possibility. It is much different when you have to fight for 36 minutes. I'm not saying Barker will beat Lee if they fight, but their amateur fight has little bearing on a potential pro matchup, in my opinion.

Listen if you are saying that the result of when two fighters meet each other in the ams means NOTHING when they meet each other in the pros you are wrong - plain and simple and its a pretty indefencible position.crusader wrote:There are countless other examples I could give you. Of course it doesnt mean everything or even a great deal because of the multitude of varibables or even means anything between Lee and Barker but to say it means nothing whatsoever is crazy.

Because you were probably to busy wanking it to pictures of Lee and Duddy draped in the Irish flag or something of those sorts, you failed to read my original post properly. I said the amateur result meant nothing when Cotto fought Abdullaev.slapbangwhallop wrote:Listen if you are saying that the result of when two fighters meet each other in the ams means NOTHING when they meet each other in the pros you are wrong - plain and simple and its a pretty indefencible position.crusader wrote:There are countless other examples I could give you. Re: Barker v Macklin!!!
I didn't say an amateur win always means nothing, but I wouldn't predict the outcome of a pro fight on a previous amateur meeting. An 18-8 win over Barker shows Lee has the ability to out box Barker over a duration of eight minutes, but there are many other variables to consider in a pro bout.slapbangwhallop wrote:a. your assessment of the noteworthiness of an amateur win over a potential professional opponent.crusader wrote:What am I wrong about?slapbangwhallop wrote: no need for the personal abuse just because you are wrong!

Surely anyone watching Barker in his last fight must have concerns for him. However, his faults were similar to Lee`s v Brian Vera. Macklin to beat both.
