I thought "Gabacho" was the equivalent of N**ger as a derogatory term, and that gringo was actually the milder phrase for us Anglos? :??

I don't know where I heard it. But I have thought for a Mexican to call me a "gabacho" was the same as me calling an African-American a "N**ger." (I didn't think it was a Chicano phrase.)

So, you mean if a Mexican calls me a "gabacho," the appropriate response isn't to give him the finger?

The term "Gabacho" originated from the Pachucos during their era, the 1940's...

No, you don't flip him the bird for calling you a gabacho.....Gabacho is NOT a derogatory term. Its the same as you calling me a chicano.... :TU:

Well, the punchline is "dinner." But you are exactly right. Awful stuff? Not to a true Swede . . . which is why I thank God I'm only Swedish on my mother's side. You couldn't pay me to eat that sh*tty stuff.
