Who went to Herning?

Post by mickey1975 »

Reading June's Boxing Monthly,Steve Lillis writes there were hardly any English fans at Froch-Kessler.Just wondering if many made it from here as there was a lot of talk of it when it was originally announced.Did the postponement spoil it for almost everyone?

i think it was the ash cloud that did the damage, people would not have known how long the situation was going on for. (and with budget airlines you need to cancel your flight early doors)

If it had been in Copenhagen I'd have gone. As it was, I had to look on a map to find Herning and went, nah, give that one a miss. Would have been a ballache to get flights and then drive across Denmark or get trains or whatever it would have involved. Then I also looked at the ticket prices, which again was an extra layer in putting me off as they were like £200 for anything half decent.

I went but was seriously out of pocket due to the postponement and having to rail it from Copenhagen. There were only a few pockets of English fans really. Denmark is very expensive too, so it isn't a real surprise. The promotion and closeness of of Haye Ruiz would have had an impact too.

I read Steve Lillis's report and thought he had it about right. The atmosphere was 'Ricky Hatton at the MEN like', only I would say less hostile and more fun.
Had a cracking trip in the end

gave it a miss due to my brother having to pull out of going for work reasons in the end , but may well have had trouble anyway with all the ash cloud business , i usually feel disapointed to not get to the big ones that i intend going to , but not so disapointed this time , despite it being a good fight.

Hoping to go to Zurich with another poster form here if Froch fights Abraham there. Much easier to get to with easyjet and a decent city in a beatiful setting.

Might even hire mountain bikes and go for a cycle around the lake...

No, I went too with a group of about 20. No-one from here though. Another 30 or 40 just got tickets from me.
