Folks, I do a bit of mess-about coaching and a girl I coach is keen to step up and take it a bit more seriously. She's reasonable, not ever going to set the world on fire but wants to give it a go - so I'm looking for a club that accepts women. Any recommendations? She works near Victoria and lives Hammersmith way - Earlsfield's doable but not sure they train females.
All advice gratefully received.

This is the website you need, it will give you a list of regional contacts, from there you should be able to contact clubs individually and ask them if they can help you.
Women's amateur boxing is in it's infancy, but I know from speaking to people involved in the ABA, that there is a drive to get more women involved in international competition, and officially speaking there is no longer any ban on women participating in the professional or amateur codes. Theoretically clubs should be training women, but I don't know if that is true across the board in all areas.
Alternatively, contact Liz King at the ABA, she's always been very helpful, although she works with the 'world class' section, she will certainly be able to direct you to the right person.

A girl i know got her amateur card at Broad Street gym late last year. So you'll probably have luck there. It's in Whitechapel, 30 seconds from Shadwell tube & DLR.
Here are the contact details from http://www.abae.co.uk/
Broad Street ABC
020 7790 6707
Whitechapel
Ms S Henry

I'm sure she'd been keen on a sparring partner as they're very thin on the ground, she's about 60Kg.

If living in Hammersmith it would be easy for her to travel to westbourne park and go to All Stars ABC, 576 Harrow Road, W10.
