Better fighters and hall of famers, I agree. But Calzaghe was the man at this weight for over a decade.
Being WBO titlist constitutes The Man, does it now? Calzaghe was technically the man once he beat Kessler and never made a defense

Herol would doubtless have boxed just beautifully enough to lose.

I would say being renowned worldwide as the best at the weight for a decade would make him "THE MAN".......

Would you like to throw in a couple of names who were better at super middleweight than Calzaghe between, say, 1997 and 2007?

So so picky some of you......like him or not, we are talking purely about SUPER MIDDLE, and it was his division. Ottke is the only one who came close, and he had several lucky decisions, Reid among them. But he too deserves a place among the top 10.

Toney and Jones are better fighters, I agree, but at this weight Calzaghe is right up there and should not be snubbed.

PS At super middle Jones beat - Brannon, Lucas, Sosa, Thornton, Pazienza, Byrd and Toney......

We could pick holes in that too if we really wanted to.

I'd agree he is number one though, he was mesmerising at this weight and initially at light middle, have hated seeing him decline.

I wasn't bad, certainly would have munched Froch.
He beat benn and Eubank after they were mentaly scarred from their fights with Mcclelland and Watson though. They were completely different fighters when he met them.

Calzaghe should be number 1 imo - based on the fact i think RJJ was a better Light Heavy than he was SMW and almost all calzaghes fights were at SMW, Eubank was better than Toney at SMW as well imo.

Also didnt McClellan only have 1 fight at SMW.
