who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
as in not just throwing punches blindly but at cutting off the ring etc
Re: who was the better attacker duran or JCC?
Again, you are comparing a very good fighter and HOFer (Chavez) with a top 10 alltime guy. Duran any day.

You can compare Duran offensive skills to fighters such as Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson, Ezzard Charles, and a few others. But Wlad K, Chavez, Tzsyu? Wow!!! you are in serious need of history lesson. Duran anytime.
Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?

Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
Uhhh well first off....JCC and Duran r all time greats and Tzsyu was a good fighter in a weak division so I don't know where he came from.
Duran hands down...he fought the best competition and he still was breaking those guys down.
Tzsyu was breaking guys like Leonardo Mas down haha this guy is the most overrated fighter in boxing history, he has one guy on his resume Zab Judah...who has a soft chin and Tzsyu has a big punch. Don't get me wrong a 2nd round ko is very impressive but he's not great period.

Duran wins the tourney, but is sorry he did when he runs into Armstrong. Together, they bring the house down, but that fight can only have one winner.actjac wrote:Great tournament:

Depends on the weight. At LW, I'd take Duran.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Duran wins the tourney, but is sorry he did when he runs into Armstrong. Together, they bring the house down, but that fight can only have one winner.actjac wrote:Great tournament:

Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
Duran is over-rated at LW --- or, rather, the greats of the division & how they'd stack up against him are heavily under-estimated.
I routinely see Duran at number-one in the 135lb. class (not coincidentally, by many who grew up watching him), but he doesn't even have a place in my top-five at this weight. Top-ten, yes, but he's not as great as he's made out to be --- & I consider him a first-class fighter, just so we're clear.

You are entitled to your opinion, though I'd like to see that list.
Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
At LW I take Armstrong, and at Welter I take Duran. I think many people don't realize that Armstrong was fighting welters when he really belong at LW. I kind of agree with Goodnight, Irene in a sense that Duran is kind of over-rated at LW.hitman09 wrote:Depends on the weight. Duran was worse at Welter than at Lightweight, while Armstrong wasn't, at least not noticeably IMO. Though Armstrong was a Jr. Welter for most of his WW fights, I still think Duran at WW didn't handle it as well.Idisagree wrote:At LW I take Armstrong, and at Welter I take Duran. The Duran that defeated SRL would have have defeated Armstrong that night too in my opinion.hitman09 wrote:Duran was worse at Welter than at Lightweight, while Armstrong wasn't, at least not noticeably IMO. Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
Other would be the right pick. There have been tons of fighters that eclipse Duran offensively. Tons.
From those named in the poll, he's out in front though. Easily, too.

Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
Sorry but would like to hear how many would rank ahead of Duran in that department. Because from where I stand there are not that many. Duran is one of the few with the emphasis in few that imo were the complete package in the offense department. For instance, Ali was complete package, but offensively I rank Duran ahead of Ali and that is just one example. The main reason of why many consider Duran a top 10 p4p is because of his offensive skills.glittermonkey wrote:Other would be the right pick. Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
Quite the opposite for me. Most people rank Duran so high from a P4P aspect because of his defense. No doubt he was a complete offensive fighter, but his ability to press the fight and still slip punches is what made him one of a kind.Idisagree wrote:Sorry but would like to hear how many would rank ahead of Duran in that department. Strictly speaking of offensive gifts there is Ray Robinson & Tommy Hearns, then the rest of history.
Re: who was the better attacker duran, tzsyu or JCC?
I would agree that his defense is often way under-rated. In a way he used his defense to set up his offense. However, I think his offense carry him slightly more than his defense. His ability to slip punches wouldn't be as effective without having the ability to inflict damage with his counter punching ability (offensive skills). When it comes to defense he should be ranked among the best, but so is his offensive skills. That is why Duran is the complete package in my honest opinion.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Quite the opposite for me. Most people rank Duran so high from a P4P aspect because of his defense.
