THE sweet science is about to get a little sweeter - waterski world champion Lauryn Eagle is taking up a career in boxing.
The 22-year-old, a beauty pageant regular, is certain she will be disowned by her mother.
"She is going to be in shock. She doesn't know a thing," the model/athlete said during a break in training at her Sutherland gym last night.
"I would like to have a fight and I am sussing it out now.
"I know some might be critical because I am a girl but I can't really let what other people think get to me. It's something I want to do. I just love it."
Eagle hasn't given up on another crack at Miss Universe - a competition she withdrew from this year after a run-in with the law. Ultimately, her conviction on driving offences was quashed.
"The Miss Universe thing was just bad timing. But it is something I can do later on," Eagle said. "Right now I am focused on my boxing training and my skiing."
And is she any good?
"You bet," said Eagle's trainer Losh Matthews.
"She is a young girl who has been through a lot but I have never seen anyone more committed or dedicated in my life."
Very nice. Isn't some ex gladiator star fighting as well now.....it's a good angle, hot chicks fighting each other, kind of like mud wrestling with a twist.
