the hatred between carl froch and joe calzaghe where does it stem from
i was watching a recent super six show on showtime and it does seem froch talks a lot about joe he even blamed his jeep being damaged on a calaghe suppporter
It seems to be a trait of Hennessy fighters.Call out those a lot more famous and successful than yourself.Carl and Junior Witter tried it to no effect and a few others on a lesser scale.Tyson Fury has been at it since day one but nobody listens to him

Froch wanted to fight Calzaghe, Calzaghe wanted to fight old Men
Im a boxing fan and im british and until about 3 years ago i would say froch (apart from in nottingham) was considered an undercard fighter.
He only really started calling out Calzaghe once Calzaghe had hit the big money fights and wasnt interested. And Froch really turned up the heat once Calzaghe had retired by slating his career.
I think Calzaghe just thinks of Froch as a self deluded idiot who isnt fit to shine his shoes, and was very confident that Kessler would take care of him make him look like a fool for calling him out.
Guarantee you this if Kessler hadnt beaten Froch - Calzaghe would have come out of retirement to shut him up!
But yeah its a hennessey thing - self deluded fighters who try to make names for themselves off the back of real champions. Im suprised Fury hasnt called out Haye!
i have to say my view is that froch does seem to get jealous and start feuds with the calzaghes and david hayes and amir khans he is 32-33 now and i do feel he could have stepped up to the plate a lot quicker to force a calzaghe fight
its interesting someone mentioned the jeff lacey fight and how froch might end up against joe

All crap. Froch was calling our Calzaghe before he was fighting International opponents. And to catergorise Calzaghe and Haye as real champions isn't without its flaws either.
Haye beat a guy gifted the title when Chagaev had hepitus ahead of their rematch and hasn't beaten either of the Klitschko's. Calzaghe pawned his talent for WBO money and then fought two leading contenders in Lacy and Kessler.
Most of the above is right. Alot of it is Jeliousy but what has also been mentioned is true that many Henessey boxers do the same calling out and press quotes so maybe it wasn't ALL carl.
But I did hear a quote from Froch on an internet interview that put his jeliousy into perspective. He mentioned earlier how he was better than Joe, "Richer than Joe" blah blah blah. He was doing his usual ("so Carl, whats you favorite colour ? "Red, oh, and did I tell you that Calzaghe wouldn't fight me ?") and then he was asked something like whats the most expensive thing you've ever bought other than your house ? and he said "When I won the World title I spent my purse on a new car (Ferarri ? Bentley ?), nope, a Golf. If your World Title purse buys you a Volkswagen, you've got the wrong purse. Calzaghe probably bought a Golf Course. I can understand Froch's jeliousy on this point.
As for Calzaghe avoiding Froch, this is complete crap for a few reasons. Firstly (for all you people with short memories) Carl Froch never boxed in a 12 rounder untill 2004, in that same year Calzaghe was making the 14th and 15th defences of his World Title. When Froch DID win a world Title it was 2008 ! The year calzaghe retired. If you take an objective look at both records (and overlap them) Carl hasn't got much of an arguement. The Kessler result onlt cemented this.
Plus, they really are chalk and cheese. If chalk is one of the best boxers this country has ever produced, whith a record that will stand up for generations and cheese is an overrated green eyed bloke from Nottingham who should have learnt to keep his hands up when everyone first told him to.

Yawn! Calzaghe beat a primed undefeated Kessler convicingly, Froch lost to kessler end of story. Haye was unified Cruiser champion who moved up to take the title off the biggest heavyweight champion of all time and breezed through his first defence - Froch won a vacant belt nearly got his arse handed to him by a shot JT then managed to get a controversial decision against an up and commer in his second title defense and then lost the title in his third defence.
froch called out calzaghe when he was complete a nobody and calzaghe was a world champion so what. that would be like denton vassell calling out mayweather.

dude thats a bit unfair isn't it?
The way i look at it jeff lacy was a far more formidable foe than Dirrel and Ward combined when joe beat him plus he was undefeated. So was kessler. So was robin reid. He gets minuses for the hopkins fight in my book i thought he lost. Also roy jones was shot and a little unlucky with the cut. I do agree though that if carl froch had beaten Kessler arguably his win streak of pascal, taylor, dirrel and kessler would have been almost as impressive as anything joe did at 168
if I might say, Froch of late, his last 3 fights or so has looked rather "scrappy" and even though now known I fear he 'might' be on the decline... BUT I do believe there was a time in & around 3 years ago he was up for J "slappy" C and might just have proved his claim to beat him!

anybody else - Scrappy vs. Slappy.
You don't think it was anything to do with the step up in opponents? and not cause he is in decline

No I don't, it certainly 'might' be the factor though.
but I think Froch was a better Box/Fighter before, he seems to have abandon all basics for srapping, and it was only at it's best once against Pasguel (spelling).
so he either has convinced himself this is how to deal with the better comp or he's on the decline as I see it... why not stick to box/fighting which he did to good effect.
I do remember Froch boxing well against Barney. I'd say he was peaking around that time and was hungry for the Calzaghe fight. But Calzaghe was too big a name by then (following Lacy), and Froch seemed to lose focus.
I've no doubt that Carl's always trained hard, I just get the feeling that he goes through the motions of a tough camp, then ploughs ahead looking for the KO shot. The fear of being embarrassed by Joe would've brought out the best in him. It's a shame it didn't happen, because boxing fans were calling for it, regardless of who they felt would win.

100 %
Froch hasn't been on any decline in the lst three fights, he's just boxed at World level in the last tree fights. He's just been found out.
boswell perkins wrote:I do think britain was robbed of an incredible fight froch and calzaghe both come to fight
There was never a great demand for Calzaghe-Froch. The timing was wrong. Froch was a British champion who suffered with injuries and inactivity prior to his big win over Jean Pascal in December 2008, by which time Calzaghe was out of the game.
