Everyone will pick Holmes I'm betting, but don't be so certain. He was in truly atrocious condition by 2002 (& long before, even) & could hardly hold it together enough to beat Esch. Berbick was twenty times the fighter Esch was, even if Ali lost convincingly to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ali won this.

Your thread is imaginative although like me I think you dont think the fight should ever take place anywhere except in the imagination!

Comparing their fights at this time for Ali who obviously was a sick man by this time Berbick was a strong tough aggressive man light years away from a Buttterbean in just about every facet of the sport. Ali hung in there 10 rounds and although some of the rounds were close imo Ali lost the vast majority of them so 99-94 was about right

Butterbean was scared to fight a proper minute let alone a round against a 50 something Holmes. Holmes looked terrible.

I see Ali outboxing Holmes easily in a terrible sad fight even if it only takes place in the mind!

I don't see it being easy. But after thinking about it I see Ali winning a UD.

Ali's best weapon in the Berbick fight seemed to be the straight right. Im glad Larry called it a day after butterbean he looked dreadful but i admire his courage and how he gave a lesson to butterbean.
