McCloskey/Laurie-Who do you like?

Post by Romi »

From what little I have seen, I believe McCloskey will shine Friday night. Mc appears as if he may go on to world class level. He says he wants Khan. Junior Witter obliterated Laurie 8 yrs back. I don't think Mc is as strong as Witter but he puts his punches together rather nicely. His fight ending body shot v Bustos was devastating. I think he'll get Lauie out of there before 10. Any thoughts on this one?

mccloskey tko 10....laurie has fallen short at the top of ebu level everytime. mccloskey is good and will cause alot of world class fighters problems.

I think Lauri will go into survival mode from the off and could see the 12 rounds through but it will be a lobsided decision victory for the Derryman. Either that or a late stoppage. McCloskey is at his peak and is ready for a few of the bigger boys in the division imo, fighters like Lauri are a step below him.

It's a pretty poor fight. Lauri was stopped in 5 by Hatton ten years ago and in 2 by WItter eight years ago. Bami beat him twice too. Lauri isn't getting any better and if McCloskey had any genuine world title ambitions, he'd be facing better guys than this.

Lauri is the mandatory challenger for the belt. Some boxers just can't win - if they take on a voluntary they are critisised for not fighting the mandatory and vice versa. I know Lauri probably shouldn't be a mandatory but that's the way it is.

Exactly Deano!

Remind where Lauri is from again and then why he is in a mandatory position! ;)

Better than sitting around twiddling his thumbs though.

Can see the younger man coming thru with a mid-late stoppage. WIll be one-sded. FFN has been a bit poor the last couple of weeks but better than no boxing at all I suppose.

Good undercard on this one though so hopefully we will get to see a good bit of that. :D

Have a lot of time for McCloskey. Expecting a late stoppage by him. Hopefully onto bigger and better things after this.
