Merthyr Express did report another contest for Chris Shea three weeks after his bout with Tommy Farr as follows=
04-04-1931. Albert Bartlett 319538. Coliseum,Bargoed. L. Disq.1. 10.

Shea addressed the audience at the end of the first round and declared he had dislocated his thumb and would retire.
Referee William Parry however ruled otherwise and disqualified Shea on grounds that he considered him fit to carry on.
