Fury v McDermott I
Just had a rather unusual enquiry...does anyone know/remember if the police had to be called to the above match?

Re: Fury v McDermott I
I attended this fight and left after the main event just as things were starting to get "lively".
Myself and MacTavish walked from the Brentwood Centre to Brentwood High St and saw a number of police vans, sirens on, headed for the Brentwood Centre so yes, assume they were.
Must have been surreal for the people still making use of the swimming facilities.

100% the Police turned up in force. Also there was trouble in the High Street before and afterwards with people trying to have it with the Travellers.
I'm surprised that the rematch was allowed in the town.

As I see it,the 1st fight was a bunch of bullsh-t and McDermott was ripped off Ian.
It's that straight forward.

Please... I'll admit to McDermott fans being eejits - the racist abuse they hurled at Williams at Goresbrook was awful... and Fury's lot I'll leave to others to talk about...funso banjo baby wrote:what do u expect

but Brentwood is a lovely town; my old man lives there as do many of my mates. On an average weekend night there are no old bill to be seen or needed.
Re: Fury v McDermott I
Aye - don't know if you remember mate but I set up a poll on here afterwards. Can't remember the exact result but something like 90% thought McDermott won. The Board saw the poll. I'm not saying they wouldn't have made the decision for the re-match anyway but things like that help.Evander wrote:As I see it,the 1st fight was a bunch of bullsh-t and McDermott was ripped off Ian.

AFAIK John is from Horndon-on-the-Hill... near Brentwood but not in it. Lots of his support are 'travellers' from the area
