no I dont see your point whatsoever. If you are not able to explain what your point is then I think it is safe to say that you havent got one.

Are you trying to say that I am somehow no longer Irish because I choose to live in England?

Yes, its me that is "talking out of his arse" - have you read your last 10 posts??

I've never played hurling (Macklin is quite good at it though) so why would it upset me. This is becoming very childish. Obviously the some Brits on here can not handle that someone born in England doesn't consider themselves English.

Interesting attitude.

Unless someone has something more mature to add to this discussion then I wont be replying.

The irony is you defended football(a game played exclusively by increasingly faggoty men) by calling other sports "gay"

Actually I think people are getting their knickers in a twist.

Its Macklin thats is stating he is Irish - not me. I am happy to accept that he is Irish if he legitimately claims to be. Frankie Gavin is in an almost identical situation to Macklin.

1. Matthew Macklin - he is from Brum his Ma is from Tipp and his Da is from Roscommon, he fought for England as an amatuer international and won an English ABA title - but he considers himself primarily Irish - therefore in my book he is.

2. Frankie Gavin - Gavin's situation/credentials are almost to Macklins - he is from Brum his Ma is from Tipp and his Da is from Kerry, he fought for England as an amatuer international and won an English ABA title - but to my knowledge doesnt consider himself primarily Irish - therefore in my book he isnt. Thats doesnt mean I wont watch him a little keener than others - I will and I wish him well - good luck to the lad.

Where was he actually born, anyway?

And I don't mean "in which country" or anything as inconsequential as that. I've heard that he's from Birmingham and that he's from Solihull.

This is actually important, damnit.

if you like the Lamp then that is even more reason to move away from Digbeth - you dont want the wife within nagging distance.

Ultimately, I think what we've learned from this thread is that The Lamp Tavrn in Digbeth is a really good pub.

A person's nationality is for that individual to decide and not others. Macklin has openly declared he prefers Irish to be his nationality but he also takes a lot of pride in representing the city and folk of Birmingham.
