U.S. amateurs suspended for doping violations

I read that Jerren Chochran received a 2 year suspension. I also read that Jesus Gomes received a suspension. Is that Jesus Francisco "Frankie" Gomez or some other boxer? Does anyone know?

suspended for blood doping, or what?... A 2 yr suspension is pretty intense, but well deserved if he was intentionally cheating... I take a couple nutritional supplements that are legit but i somtimes worry about cross contamination during production, which some people say can happen. I wish we had some kind of resource where we could send our stuff to get tested before implementing it. does anybody know of anything like that?... Its easy for people to tell us to avoid vitamins and nutritional supps altogether, but if everybody else is using them...

I have more comments about the process they put him thru that I will withhold for now..

Of course he's turning pro, a 2 yr ban is the equivalent of being kicked out of amateur boxing for a 20 year old two years before the olympics..

2 year ban for a top amateur is a clear message that it is time to turn pro.

If it was Frankie, then a long-term suspension gave him the extra incentive to sign with Golden Boy. Assuming he needed any extra incentive.

(June 10, 2010) - USADA announced today that U.S. boxing athlete Jesus Gomez, of Lincoln Heights, California, has received a two-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation. Gomez, 18, refused to take part in a USADA Out-of-Competition doping control test on February 25, 2010.

An athlete’s refusal to provide a sample when notified without compelling justification constitutes an anti-doping rule violation under the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing and the rules of the International Boxing Association, both of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code (“Code”). Gomez’ two-year period of ineligibility began May 28, 2010.

In an effort to aid athletes, as well as all support team members such as parents and coaches, in understanding the rules applicable to them, USADA provides comprehensive instruction on its website on the testing process and prohibited substances, how to obtain permission to use a necessary medication, and the risks and dangers of taking supplements as well as performance-enhancing and recreational drugs. if thats the case it only leads us to believe how good was he really then... And I had so much respect for him even after he beat me last year in the quarter finals at the Nationals I showed him alot of love...

He didn't fight in LBC in fact he never fought after winning regional Golden Gloves. The guy he beat Mercedes Manriquez took his spot and made it to nationals. That's how good Jerren is. And Mercedes is supposed to turn pro soon too, trained by Ronnie Shields.

Who is so impressed by Frankie Gomez anyways. He will need to get better quickly to make a career as pro. As far as all the hype I dont see it.

Gomez was signed by GoldenBoy in early March, and he missed his random test in late Feb. So I assume he had already made his decision to turn pro, figured he wasnt going to represent USA Boxing any more, and didnt need to take the test.

Maybe or maybe he would test dirty and skipped it for that reason and then knew that he needed to turn pro. Hard to say.

If he skipped the test it´s because he knew he was dirty. Simple as that. Why would you otherwise skip the test knowing you´ll get a two year suspension? He turned pro cause he had no other choice. He isn´t the first one to do so. Ukrainians Vitaly Klitschko and Ismail Syllakh did the same thing years ago. It´s sick you get a suspension for cheating in amateurs and it doesn´t apply to the professionals.
