Omar Shaick Vs Ben McCullogh

Post by Grant »

Great nights entertainment at Mansfield Tavern last night, Well matched and not an Argentinian taxi driver in site,,,,,,,Note to 'the man'.
But I wanted to Comment on the Shaick Vs McCullogh fight.

The commentator clearly wanted Shaick to win and IMO was overly critical of the decision. I admit it was close and it could have gone either way but when you get knocked down in a 6 rounder you pretty much clearly have to win every other round to win the fight, and I think Ben at least halved the sixth.

Well done Phil Holliday that was a close one also..

Overall a terrific card

On paper it looked a no frills card but it was full of thrills.

Evenly matched local fighters giving it all, no backward steps, displaying fitness and ticker! A credit to all concerned and this is what the punter wants to see rather than certain over-blown PPV promotions with suspect match-ups and dubious imports.

I agree I was more inclined to give it to Omar, but if my memory serves me correct the commentator said that all he had to do was stay on his feet to win it, That pricked my ears up. A knock down and a lost round equals three points to my way of thinking, normally, and in a 6 round fight that is normally enough for a least a draw. Anyway not a biggie, It was terrific night. Can you believe that a mate of mine didn't watch it because he thought it would be a typical aussie fight night with mismatches and taxi drivers......dopey him (Paul you know who you are)

It was a great fight, as were Holiday/Kanofski and Mcconville/Maley.

My mate thought Shiack won, while i thought Mc Culloch won, but i wouldn't have been disappointed if either got the decision. I would like to see a rematch as it was a really well matched fight, the KD was the difference.

Di Carlo is putting on good card after good card, and the venue was packed. Although the majority of fights were steppi ng stone fights it was still good to see that they were evenly matched contests.

Angie does a good job @ matching. His shows ain't a frigging slaughterhouse.
I learned the hard way not to bet on his shows.

I thought the biased commentary was pretty embarassing really. It was extremely one sided and way over the top.

I had McCulloch winning by three points. Admittedly there were some close rounds though.
