USA Boxing Rankings??
USA Boxing Rankings??
Does anyone know why USA Boxing has seemingly ceased to ranked boxers? The rankings page on their web site is from after the Nationals in 2009. They used to be done quarterly, or at least after a national tournament concluded.

I agree with you. Rankings keep not only the fighters motivated but also the families and fans of the sport really into this sport. It's very important.

Re: USA Boxing Rankings??
I agree with all of you on the importance of rankings! I remember looking forward to the USAB magazines to see who were ranked and to set my eyes on those who were ranked in my weight class! I've just posted a new topic about implementing a ranking system but I don't know if it's feasible because it'll require participation from the boxing community.
We'll see. Let me know what all of you think?

Re: USA Boxing Rankings??
Word is that they may not be any ranking this year due to no in the colorado office to do so. Many worker are for example Julie, Patrick just to name a couple.
Re: USA Boxing Rankings??
The rankings are fun to discuss. I like Michael Smith's rankings for that reason. If anyone wants to start ranking boxers based upon tournaments and other competitions, go ahead and do so. They might become the "unofficial" official rankings of amateur boxing in the U.S.

Re: USA Boxing Rankings??
I was ranking people on my boxing site and to many people were complaining about the rankings. Or why was this person lower than that and so on so I got rid of it. Maybe I will bring it back one day.
Re: USA Boxing Rankings??
Crybabies! Sorry Athorn, any rankings are good rankings. Hopefully you can bring it back sometime. I would never complain over a fighter being ranked lower than another in any personal rankings, because it's opinions only and everybody deserves an opinion. Michael Smith's are always fun to watch for every month. He finally is ranking fighters at the new 114 and 123 pound weight divisions this month btw.Athorn4941 wrote:I was ranking people on my boxing site and to many people were complaining about the rankings. Re: USA Boxing Rankings??
Unofficial Rankings, haha, I like that! Here would be the Rankings based off the National Golden Gloves Results only. (First Place, Winner - Second Place, Runner-UP) (3rd, Loser to Winner - 4th, Loser to Runner Up) (5th, Loser to 1 - 6th, Loser to 2 - 7th, Loser to 3 - 8th, Loser to 4) (9th - Loser to Champion, 10th - Best of Rest IMHO) To a certain extent this list is reasonable. It is worth mentioning only a few were RSC'd as Dennis mentioned in an earlier post about the Golden Gloves. Very competitive this year! P4P Rankings are all the Champions ranked IMHO.
