I believe Cleverly is overrated at the moment. He appears in most top ten lists at LHW, yet his opposition to date has been quite poor. I don't think Brancalion, Frye, or Boyle are more worthy of fighting Cleverly than Bellew is. Of course, now that Cleverly holds the EBU title and is closing in on a world title shot, it might not be a good career move to keep taking domestic fights against dangerous opponents.

BTW, I was going over Clev's record and noticed he has not fought one power puncher to date. Does anyone know if he has had chin issues in the past?

in fairness bellew has fought nothing. cleverly is a much more proven fighter. bellew doesnt seem to be stepping up at all. we hear excuses about people not fighting him, but they are starting to wear thin now.

yeh joe vegas dropped him and had him completely gone. and he cant punch at all. imo the second a big puncher catches him flush i believe he will go, just my opinion but i believe your right with the exception of mclintosh who isnt even a big puncher at all he hasnt fought any1 who has a half decent k.o record

his chin seems better at lhw, at smw he was badly weight drained. he will step up the competition soon, he has been juggling boxing and maths for years mate, give him time.

we know your a big bellew fan but cumon, he aint no amir khan, cleverly was weight drained at smw. so you say clev was out on his feet against vegas...who "cant punch at all" you say, well how come when he moved up to lhw and still fought 1 good puncher and the rest weak punchers(just like vegas is) he hasn't been badly staggered? because he isn't drained and is comfortable at the weight. :TU:

I'm not saying he is no Amir khan, I'm just saying that when Vegas dropped him he was gone, and he hasn't to date fought any1 who is known as having big punch power. I believe the second a big puncher lands a big shot he will get k.od just my opponion and maybe he will prove me wrong. But he wasn't weight drained at all for that fight he just got caught with a decent shot and was like bambi on ice.

IMO cleverly has never fought any1 with a big punch who could end a fight with 1 shot. Call it good managment or what ever but when cleverly v bellew happens IMO cleverly will have never ever have felt power like it. And I belive it will end inside 4 rounds

SO what is belllew going to do then? Keep fighting substandard opposition for 40 fights? Its getting to a stage where he has to step up, and not be happy to beat these guys and see these wins as big achievements. Just my opinion.

here's a question for you mate?

If you were a promotor and 7- out the top 10 have turned down a fight with you, and before you say offer them more money, at least 5 if not more were offered more than they have ever been paid before including fry who was offered more to fight bellew than cleverly with only 1 belt on the line rather than 2 when he fought clev, what would you do????

clev was 100% weight drained in the vegas fight hence why he moved up in weight :TU: bomber hasnt fought anybody that could end it with 1 shot neither, from what iv seen of both fighters, i see nothing other then a dominating cleverly win :TU:

ive watched boxing for years and always thought it goes in title order of british,c'wealth then europe but latley the commonwealth is so over rated.im not takin nothin away from bellew and his win for the belt but the guy he fought had only fought 4 times there is probably better boxers in england with a 4 fight record, then we had groves fightin for it against a guy who couldnt crack an egg with his shots and couldnt take a decent shot either. the way the titles go now for me is european, british, english, area title then commonwealth

Maybe not, but he's never been dropped in the pros or ams. Bomber has a really good chin.

I'm also a fan of Tony and believe he'll stop Clev, but I can also see why people tip Clev to score a points victory.

Clev is a quality, young boxer, and will undoubtedly get better and better. If he can avoid Tony's shots for 12 rounds then you can see him winning the fight - but avoiding the bombs isn't going to be easy.

The kid he fought had 10 fights, winning 6 by stoppage. Don't think Boxrec managed to get them all updated.

either way there both going to be world champions i feel, now that clev has his exams out the way i think were gonna see an improved fighter, we'll see the best of bellew when he is in meaningful scraps aswell. both are exciting fighters and seem like humble guys, they will both have huge supports in there home towns.

It couldnt, times have changed. In the unlikely event of it actualy happening,it would be a great trade fight.Sorry, but thats the way it is.The only great rivalries possible in terms of media attention and national interest are Haye-Harrison and Khan-Hatton.Even Froch-Calzaghe wouldnt be THAT huge due to Froch's low profile.

But its not as simple as that though,i wish it was. Both could quite easily become alphabet champions fighting exclusively on Sky and neither would have the support of their nations. When Clinton Woods boxed Tarver did he have the support of England? No,and he boxed on both the BBC and ITV in good, entertaining World title bouts. The only BIG fights must involve "crossover" stars, and neither look like becoming one.Its very, very hard,it took Calzaghe about ten years to get there.Hope im wrong though as i like both and would love to see them meet.
