I'd imagine it was 'Real Gone Kid' by Deacon Blue.

I'm older than you think - I was 7(1989)

When you were a kid there must have been some music you were brought up on or what was always playing at home? Deacon Blue are LOVED by a lot of Scousers. They get massive gates in Liverpool still today - probably more than their home town Glasgow/Dundee

My Dad loved the song and I took it from him :TU:

My old dad loved Slim Whitman and Jim Reeves, I gotta say I do like to listen to 'distant drums' now and again. Mum loved Matt Monro as he also sung in Spanish.

I didn't know about Scousers and their love of Deacon Blue - favourite song of theirs - 'fergus sings the blues' :TU:
