Elcock Returns! Boxing In Birmingham This Thurday

A good looking show takes place in the Second City this Thurday 7th April.

A home town fighter makes his professional bow in the city (incredible really) in the main event:

Wayne Elcock v Darren Rhodes of Leeds.

Main support features Anthony Maynard, whilst the bill is rounded out with the following contests:

Terry Adams (Brummie Bulldog) v Ernie 'Gypsie Boy' Smith

Gary Coombs (A real small hall warrior) v Gavin Tait of Wales

Burton's Jonjo Finnegan v Peter Dunn

Come on Midland fight fans - lets get behind these guys. Elcock is a genuine force at Middleweight IMO and its the first time he has boxed in his own back yard.

I have seen the remainder of the fighters box numerous times and all represent value for money. Boxing in Brum is long overdue a revival - lets ensure that is continues.

Thats a damn good fight.

Terry (or anyone else) know if Rhodes is moving up perminantly. What weight will this fight be at, because I believe Boxing Monthly now class Elcock as a Super Middle.

I hope he sticks at Middle personally, Rhodes would be a decent addition at Middle also.

With Elcock's time out I call this a 50:50 fight. Rhodes is better than Murphy for certain.

I would expect this match to be made at middle - maybe a pound or two over but not full supermiddle.

Rhodes is a real hard man and will bring the fight to Elcock - he certainly isnt getting a patsie for his home town debut!

I saw Tommy McDonagh outbox Rhodes handily and I expect to see Elcock take the same route - neat boxing, not getting drawn into a slugging contest. Looking forward to it already!

The fight has been made at 11st 7lb Elcock will be on weight, I saw Wayne and i have to say he looks fit and is well up for the fight, It will be a good card as i and alot of other people who go to small hall shows will vouch for, Maynard was robbed vs Hunt, hopefully they all put on a good show and a few more people put on shows in Birmingham, Makes a change not having to drive miles to watch decent matched fighters.
