I to once had high hopes for Audley Harrison a big, intelligent, articulate, British Heavyweight with Olympic Gold Medal etc. Who could realisticaly ask for more?

And then his stop start professional career started.

I remember once after one of his early fights on the BBC when that station was still wetting it's little pants over it's Heavyweight hope. They had Nigel Benn in the studio.

When asked about Audley the straight talking Benn said something like "Where's his fire or desire for the game? when I was a novice pro I couldn't wait to get in the ring and get stuck in"

A very good point I thought and still do.

Benn was never seen on a Harrison show again. Read into that what you will.

To be honest I started to worry when Harrison brought out a biography mainly on the force of winning the gold medal. When someone does that so early in a pro career they either have gross delusions of their own accomplishments so far or else secretly know they have already gone as high as they're gonna go.

From topping the bill and basically pulling the strings to fighting on a relatively unknowns undercard says it all basically, not so much a step backwards more of a giant leap.

What other options does he have? Without going over to the dark side (allegedly) he has no options over here.

Probably his best bet would be to go to America and try and do something there... get a winning run together and try and generate interest that way (they do like the limeys over there)...... but thats going to be hard work and I'm not sure he has the hunger to do that now.
I find it hard to belive he still has an injury... I think he is really stuck as to where to go now as he has no big time backers and doesn't seem willing to start from scratch again, which is really what he is going to have to do.
Another option is if he arranges to 'defend' his title in June against Danny Williams.... a win against Williams would change things considerably for Audely.

I dont think anyone can blame Harrison for not facing Skelton, it was plain to everyone that Allegedly did all he could to get Harrisons back up and stop that fight happening. A fit Harrison would beat Skelton, anyone thinking Skelton would win needs to get real. Skelton has zero skill, a reasonable punch but not a massive hitter. Harrison could easily outbox him and I think he busts him up in about 8-10 rounds.

I would just favoure Harrison over Skelton. However Harrison does not seem to like to be put under pressure and likes to fight at his own place, the question is would he be able to do that against Skelton, who is big, strong, has good workrate and would put Harrison under a lot more pressure than any of his previous opponents.

It wont happen anyway as Allegedly is intent on buggering things up for Harrison any way he can it seems. If Harrison can get a few wins under his belt in the states he'll be in a lot better position than he would staying here.
