I to once had high hopes for Audley Harrison a big, intelligent, articulate, British Heavyweight with Olympic Gold Medal etc. Who could realisticaly ask for more?
And then his stop start professional career started.
I remember once after one of his early fights on the BBC when that station was still wetting it's little pants over it's Heavyweight hope. They had Nigel Benn in the studio.
When asked about Audley the straight talking Benn said something like "Where's his fire or desire for the game? when I was a novice pro I couldn't wait to get in the ring and get stuck in"
A very good point I thought and still do.
Benn was never seen on a Harrison show again. Read into that what you will.
