Re: Fury parts company with trainer Hughes
Wow - amazing!
Well, I hope McDermott gets a title shot out of this against Chisora - McDermott is a good fighter and would put money on him beating Chisora.
Tyson Fury is a good fighter. I don't know whats going on here and his training camp but you can put a pound to a pinch of soil that the fight is as good as off.

MacTavish wrote:1. Megamouth Fury seems to have said zero about this re-match (maybe he just dones't want to look stupid again?)
2. Fury failed to show for the press conference yesterday.
All seems a bit iffy for me, I don't think Fury wants this at all - he threw the kitchen sink at McDermott last time and all he did was come back strnger onto Fury - might wait till the last minute to get tickets for this one.
Exoddus wrote:Like I said on another thread. I was thinking around 6/4 on John to win. So 9/4 IMO is a great price. I think John will win again, but won’t believe the fight is on until Fury steps into the ring. If this fight was going to happen. It would have happened a few months ago. Lets just wait and see.

Exoddus wrote:I think McDermott will win again. I wont hold my breath until Fury steps into the ring. Boxing has slowly turned me into a sceptic I’m afraid!
If McDermott is around 6/5. Would have a little punt on it.
Dioufy wrote:I believe Fury is doing his best to avoid this fight.
Just for arguement's sake, I had the first fight 98-92 to guess who?
Not Fury.
Exoddus wrote:I still don't see this fight happening. Just got that feeling. I don't think Fury could have improved enough in the short amount of time to beat McDermott, but it could only take 1 punch I guess.
I'd go with McDermott UD. I thought he won the first fight by a good 4 rounds.
Fury is on damage control now. He didn't want the rematch. He's going to use his trainer as an excuse to not fight. If Fury was up for it. He wouldn't be talking the way he is (the fight also would have happend ages ago!). He's a beaten man. It looks like he has no confidence or belief that he will be able to beat McDermott. Come and prove us sceptics wrong Fury. You have a big mouth. It's time to back it up!

What are the chances of this fight actually happening next week? I'm still debating whether or not to buy tickets for this but am starting to think probably best not to!

We won't know for sure until we see Fury at the weigh in. It wouldn't surprise me to see Fury come in at 16 and a half stone and laugh at us all.

Exactly... Possible smokes and mirrors..
Re: Fury parts company with trainer Hughes
Well Fury had all the confidence in the world before the fight. Struggling with McDermott would have dented his confidence but he will believe that he just had an off night and will beat McDermott easy this time. Psychological warfare has been going on in boxing since it began. How do you think these rumours have affected the McDermott camp? Obviously Fury could be 21 stone but he could also be playing games.MachoMan09 wrote:Mark & Tony, that is possible; but should a lad who intimates publically that he can go a real long way in the game be resorting to psychological nonsense like that at this early stage of his career? I would suggest not. With the greatest of respect to John Mc', who I like a lot, he is a decent domestic trialhorse. Fighters with genuine aspirations for top-honours should be getting in the ring and blasting such men out of the ring. If Fury is playing mindgames -- rather than just getting the excuses in early, which is more likely -- it tells us something about his lack of self-belief.markp wrote:We won't know for sure until we see Fury at the weigh in. Re: Fury parts company with trainer Hughes
Wouldn't these dumb mind games have an effect on ticket sales for his fight? Surely there are better mind games he could play if he really needs to resort to it?

Well I wish Fury would bloody well hurry up and confirm so I know whether to bother with tickets or not.
Guess I'll hold out a bit longer and if tickets sell out in the meantime, so be it.

Re: Fury parts company with trainer Hughes
Me too. McDermott seems to have put so much into this, be a shame if Fury doesn't turn up.
Re: Fury parts company with trainer Hughes
You look at the condition of Fury and hear about him swapping trainers and I can't help but question his application to training IMO.

Re: Fury parts company with trainer Hughes
Bit of a shame they parted ways. Both seemed decent guys.
Brian told me he was very fond of Tyson and their German trips were very successful indeed. It was Brian's dream to get a decent heavy to work with and he believed Tyson could have gone far eventually. He said he had a lot of raw tools, but needed work in many areas.
Sparring is important, but working on technique and other areas is equally important.
I fear that a return to type for Fury may spell an end to a fledgling career.
