I thought that too.jezzamundo wrote:One thing that bugs me is the #3 spot - whoever I give it to, it always seems a bit generous to them. I think this just highlights how very clearly that Louis and Ali are the top 2.

Re: Rank ur HW top 10 of all time
I find the Tyson question too hard.
Before he went to prison he was 45-1. He won 45 of those fights easily. He lost to Douglas when he clearly did not train.
When he came out of prison he was not the same figher. He lost to Holyfield. If they fight in 1991 Holyfield is faster but does not have as much power. Speed without power will not bother Tyson.
Tyson beat a faded Holmes in four rounds. Yeah Holmes had a lay off. But Holmes fought for fourteen more years and never again came close to being knocked out. Tyson at his absolute peak destroyed him in four rounds.
If Tyson has Rooney in his corner, Robin by his side and Jim Jacobs by his side i think he can beat Lewis and hold his own with Holyfield.

Tyson didn't struggle in a single fight before Douglas? Pure fantasy.Klee Gluckman wrote:I find the Tyson question too hard.

Yeah it is, I don't think alltime top 10 lists are a place for What If scenarios. Rank Tyson on what Tyson did, not what you think he could have done, etc..
I don't think he is top 10, but having him at 8-10 isn't criminal. Having him ahead of Holyfield is lunacy. That just can't happen.

I am among the relative few who contends Tyson beats Holyfield, prime-for-prime, & even I wouldn't make that case.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Yeah it is, I don't think alltime top 10 lists are a place for What If scenarios. Rank Tyson on what Tyson did, not what you think he could have done, etc..

you can't, if you think Mike would beat him in their prime than you rank him one or two spots below Evander like you and a few others did. But head to head dominance coupled with superior resume = greater. No matter how you cut it.
Re: Rank ur HW top 10 of all time
Dempsey was not a big Heavy at about 190. I think if you include him you should include Tunney, since Tunny beat him twice, and was 66-1 with almost 50 KO's. I know most were light heavy fights but he was still Hvy champ.
Jimmy Young gave Ali trouble if I remember right, and would have given Holmes trouble as well with his counter-punching.
If Ali had not beat Foreman when he did in 74 and took his confidence, I think Foreman would have been champ for about 10 years. Joe Frazier didn't last 5 rounds with Foreman........in two fights. He was a wrecking machine, for sure.

I don't think Foreman would've quite lasted that long, but subtracting Ali, he had at least five years (73-78) where he'd have reigned, & it possibly could've stretched to the better part of ten years, if he convincingly did away with Holmes (very possible, if Foreman were at the top of his game).
