Re:
Was his licence taken away for heroin? It seems a little harsh given he's been clean for that longChambers wrote:It would be a travesty if the BBBC denied him a license due his past experiences. I know a number of people who take heroine and although the majority of them are trying to get off it, I only know one person who has been successful (after a number of attempts). It takes a monumental effort and if Danny has been clean since 2000 he deserves his license and it would be nothing short of cruel and heartless to deny him a shot at his dreams due to mistakes he made under exceptional circumstances when he was 11 years old.
I really hope the BBBC panel who decide whether or not he gets his license are in touch with the real world and understand what he has had to go through to get where he is today. If he does get rejected I will be e-mailin/writing a scathing letter to the BBBC
Good Luck Danny

Hi Guys,
Sorry to dig up an old thread and no I'm not a reporter or off TV BUT I am a good friend of Danny's and in contact with him. I googled Danny's name and this thread came up so signed up to give you an update.
Just to update you on him, Danny never did get his License back and has now recently started boxing on White Collar shows, he fought his 2nd fight last Friday and is now the IBC NUBA Super Feather Weight Champion, He beat Billy Hatton who is Ricky's cousin, here is a link to the fight if interested...

Danny is also now providing boxing training at a local youth club for under privilege kids and is something he is very passionate about. The youth club has been formed to stop the kids causing crime on the streets and to help give them a chance in life. The police are involved now funding the youth club because the crime and anti social behaviour in the area has dropped by 85% and trust me when I say 'that is some drop' as this is one of the roughest area's in Liverpool.

Derry he didn't know you had opened your own gym so when I mentioned it to him he said he would be down there this week or next week to see you. I know from my cousin (Sean Pollock) that Burkey has been training there a bit too hasn't he and Danny said he would love to catch up with him if he there, they go back a long way too.

My heart was in my mouth when I saw this thread again - I imagined the worst news. I'm glad that he's got things together; it won't have been easy. He was a very good boxer and hope he keeps doing what he enjoys, he seems to be doing a lot of good. Respect to the man

I also thought it was going to be news of an OD or a prison sentence or similar. Glad to see my cynicism has been punished. Well done, Danny. Keep it up.palooka wrote:My heart was in my mouth when I saw this thread again - I imagined the worst news. I'm glad that he's got things together; it won't have been easy. I have just shown this thread to Danny (I'm with him as we speak, he's not dead). He has asked me to tell everyone that he is fine, he does teach kids Boxing in his community and is doing a great job. he has co-founded The L1 Youth Group with Peter McLean his neighbour - https://www.facebook.com/TheL1YouthGroup. Danny is keeping fit and has a bout coming up. He has asked me to thank the people who have posted good things about him.
