Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
John McD will get the win he should have got last time. Quite frankly I dont think Fury is amongst our best HWs. I think Sexton, Chisora, Price etc would beat him.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
Originally I was leaning towards a fairly rendered verdict of Fury on points, however, there seems to be a lot of uncertainties regarding his preparations for the rematch. Obviously Fury struggled immensely in the first fight, so it seems logical that he will do worse if he is less prepared for the second clash.
I will still go with Fury to pull it out, but it is really a toss up for me now.

Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
McD takes this on points. I wonder, is this 10 rounds or 12 rounds?
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
Fury and McDermott are rare breeds - their dads look in better shape than they do. Nevertheless, they went 10 hard rounds last time and the longer it goes this time, the more it favours McDermott.

Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
The safest option is that Fury labours to a points win. The intangibles of Furys training being poor and McDermots new approach to training changing him for the better should of course see an improvement in McD and a decline in Fury- but you always wonder about the validity of 'poor training camp' rumours. I know for a fact that Fury has been up in lancaster for a good while. He's rumoured to have left 4 weeks ago, presuming that he wasn't in too bad shape when he left then a good trainer should be able to get him in good enough shape to 'jog' the ten rounds. He won't put in a great performance over 10 though- so look for an identical fury to last time.
However when you 6ft 9 or whatever he is- you only need to 'jog' the rounds. He can sit behind the jab and make McD work twice as hard to get into range knowing that this time there is not going to be a blow out. I think Fury will just nick it by being a little more quicker to the draw and big John - the weight of the big night on his shoulders again, will once again fail to produce the sparkle in a big fight when it counts. If ever he was going to win a big fight- it was the Williams one and his subsequent performance in the return tells me that as much as physical- Mcd's barriers are mental.
Fury 97-93 something like that. McDermot is more then capable of the win physically but I don't think he'll have the right mental approach. He was a big underdog last time and greatly disrespected- this time he's almost expected to win.

It was Fury who went for it in the last two wasnt it?mickey1975 wrote:Why?Fury did the 10 as well.bennie wrote:Fury and McDermott are rare breeds - their dads look in better shape than they do. I'm going for McDermott. I just don't think Fury is good enough. I'll give the guy credit for getting back into the ring with McDermott when it happens.

Yes. I think the outcome of this fight will be decided on Big John's mental approach -- you could see the "C'mon you big fvcker!" look on his face last time out & it made him walk through stuff & throw shots that I didn't think he had it in him to walk through or throw (certainly not after watching him labour in the second Williams fight).Jeff Thomas wrote: Fury 97-93 something like that. With the burden of expectation removed -- I laugh now at those on here who thought Fury was going to bomb him out last time -- I think he'll actually do worse. Too mentally fragile to really fire himself up like that a second time, I believe.
Of course, I hope he is tending to a Marvin Hagler-esque level of cold precision fury (ho-ho!) that will enable him to pull Tyson's head clean off his shoulders & spit down the neck-hole. But I fear it's a pretty forlorn hope.

I wish I had come out with this one.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
mcdermott has mcdonell training him and getting in his head for the past few weeks. he has had to live with the injustice of being robbed. he knows he is a big underdog again in the bookies. he dislikes fury immensely. i don't see how he can't be fired up again.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
I am not sure Fury is in the best condition, after switching to a family member for his training and declaring that he is up at 21 stone quite recently. Heavyweights are always a bit wacko and, by and large, it seems to work for them, but Fury is hardly talking a great fight. As for McDermott, he is experienced these days at 30, training well and fighting well.
Fury still has the better future at 22, as long as he does not get hurt or lose heart.

Lets see, Mcdonell is by all accounts a slave driver so if anyone is going to bring the best out of McD physically. Furys been quite quiet for this one hasn't he.markp wrote:mcdermott has mcdonell training him and getting in his head for the past few weeks. he has had to live with the injustice of being robbed. he knows he is a big underdog again in the bookies. he dislikes fury immensely. i don't see how he can't be fired up again.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
Yeah, McDonnell will have McDermott in his best ever nick and this will help mentally, since he already genuinely feels he beat Fury. He took Furys shots well last time and I fancy him to take them well again. I think this is a 12 rounder and the other fight was a 10 rounder. This will suit Big John. I think Fury is in trouble here. Baring an early KO, I don't see how he wins this one.Jeff Thomas wrote:Lets see, Mcdonell is by all accounts a slave driver so if anyone is going to bring the best out of McD physically. The thing is Fury doesn't have to be massively fit to pick and move- land the odd power shot and walk away or hold and lean on.markp wrote:Yeah, McDonnell will have McDermott in his best ever nick and this will help mentally, since he already genuinely feels he beat Fury. The idea of Mcdermot getting in there and setting a frightening pace and drawing Fury into a physical battle looks to me to be a non-starter. I'd love him too, not because i'm anti fury- i like the lad, but if he can make it a hard fight then it will be very entertaining- However he's had so many chances in his career and if he can out jabbed by Mark Krence who didn't have the dynamics of Fury then I think Fury will probably approach this one a bit more smarter and go back to his amateur roots and try and box and move. He's even back with Hughie so its not like he's going to bring anything too new to the table.
The more I think about the more unlikely the upset seems. I know you've got the rumours of poor training and all that- but Fury's not a physical fighter- all he has to do is be in fairly good shape and apply the right tactics and it will be a difficult night for MCD whose fiery start last time coupled with Furys lacklustre approach gave him the best oppertunity of an upset. Can't see it happening again.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
You seem to think that it's not going to take much stamina for Fury to "pick and move" for 12 full rounds. McDermott is going to be coming forward at Fury all night and certainly knows the basics. He knows how to close a fighter down. Fury doesn't have the ability to pick and move for 12 rounds, he will do a lot of in fighting and will take some clubbing shots inside from McDermott all night. McDermott was even landing jabs and right hands on him last time from the outside and working his way inside quite well.Jeff Thomas wrote:The thing is Fury doesn't have to be massively fit to pick and move- land the odd power shot and walk away or hold and lean on.markp wrote:Yeah, McDonnell will have McDermott in his best ever nick and this will help mentally, since he already genuinely feels he beat Fury. I think your error in thinking is that Fury won't need much stamina in this fight. Even if he was to box and move (which he can't do for 12 rounds without fighting on the inside), he is going to have to dig deep again and this one will get tough for him. McDermott isn't going anywhere and will be coming at Fury for 12 full rounds. Fury doesn't know how to hold on the inside so McDermott will have success once he gets inside.
Don't forget, Fury hasn't completed 12 rounds and the one time he did complete 10 rounds, he showed a real lack of stamina. And his preparations have reportedly been less than stellar, especially compared to McDermotts. His heart is there though, so he'll fight hard, but I expect McDermott to sweep rounds 8/9/10/11 and 12 on the scorecards, and definitely win a share of the first 7.

Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
Why hasn't McDermott fought since the last fight?
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
I do like the odds on McD when you consider
- he 'won' the first fight
- 3 judges vs 1 now
- after the controversy last time, surely he gets the benefit of the doubt in a tight decision this time
- fury isn't the 'name' he was at the time of the last fight...the itv appearances and features have gone and his promoter hasn't put a fight on all year
- varying reports from the two camps re: fitness
still very intriguing fight again, an eagerly anticipated FFN

Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
This seems fairly straight forward to predict having witnessed the first one. UD for Mcdermott surely.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
No idea how this will go, but looking at the coverage on SSN today looks ok to go ahead.
Re: Fury vs Big bad john 2 predictions?
After seeing them at the weigh in, I am confident Fury will win again. He looks in the best shape of his career and it appears he has added some muscle mass.
