BACK TO THE THREAD TOPIC - got anyone in your family thats a student? They can claim they're living at your address and the only person their and they get an exclusion from council tax (I haven't tried it but you can get it). If you can somehow be self-employed, sign-on get benefits and you won't have to pay......
Could you claim no one was living at your address??? Would that work??
OH and as a life long (25years) Left Winger Im voting Tory because they will fight the EU to save nutrional supplements for the industry and the consumer

It says something when the most popular thread on this forum is about a computer game!overhand_right wrote:Blaim boxing, not the posters! If those pussy prima donnas would actually mix it up & give us something to chat about i wouldnt have to pollute the forum wth threads about council tax, cocaine, and online toss-the-penguin games.

Yes that old tory pudendum heiress, what's her name, wizened old fornicator. What I don't understand is, why didn't she go to jail? Bitch.
Dame Shirley Porter, heiess to all the Tesco cash. It was the 'Homes for Votes' shenanigans.
I've just changed jobs after 2 years consulting to the public sector. At times it was incredibly frustrating, trying to get anything done. I know the process and red tape thing is a cliche but it was utterly ridiculous. Once theyd ecided they were going to do something they'd need to spend a fortnight writing a damn project initiation document before you could actually do any ruddy work, and even then it took a bloody age, mainly because they slope in at 10, take a 2 hour lunch and run out of the door at 4.
And so politically correct it's not true. Bearing in mind many of these people have been working in the public sector for twenty, thirty years, they're evidently well aware as PC is the only new thing that's turned up in that time that they actually understand. My old business was deducted 'marks' in a bid with a north-west Council because they used the phrase 'nitty-gritty', which, because of one of the many suggested origins of the phrase, could be deemed to be offensive to people whose ancestors may have been slaves.
The missus is a teacher in London. They're not allowed to use the word 'blackboard' any more, or even 'black bags'. 'Chalkboard' and 'Rubbish bags' are the order of the day. The crap thing is that no-one can produce any example of a 'BME' (black / minority ethnic, see) person EVER having been offended by these phrases. They're breeding hostility.
I think my rant has now gone off on a sufficiently wide tangent to warrant me stopping now.

I rented a house for a year, when it cam to the last month and i was moving on, i thought i won't bother paying that months council tax which was £60.
3 years later i was at work in a factory when i got called into personal . There was a bloke there with a summons and a bill for £150 , he was from the council tax people.
3 fornicating YEARS, i had been out the country, moved jobs 3 or 4 times and still got tracked down.

It's fornicating outrageous the calibre of staff they have where I work. One of the people I work with is 61, and she's been a secretary for 30 years, but she cannot take minutes, and gets pissed off every time someone asks her to do something. She doesn't know how to use windows, and every 5 minutes is asking how to use word, she constantly loses all her work and is basically fornicating useless, but they can't fire her.
There's another one who is a fornicating pisstaker. She was off work for 3 weeks with 'MYSTERY VIRUS' yet nobody asked her for a doctors certificate. I overheard her on the phone booking a week at a holiday camp the week before she went ill. She was then back a week, and then went on holiday for 2 weeks! Then she's back another week, and now she's off work again on holiday for another week!
As for black bags, I've never heard of anyone being offended by that. What about painters wearing "whites' they should ban that, it offends me.
Nitty-Gritty is more understandable, but I have to say, the only people who know what it's origins are would be people who have read up on slavery, and even then, words are only offensive when intended to be in my book, except for words that are in themselves offensive.
A blackboard is black and it's a fornicating board, how in christ's name is that offensive, is that really true, or one of those myths you hear?
I've always said 'half-caste' for mixed race, it's what everyone said, black white and brown at school, and every now and then I get dark looks, but there's no intention behind it, and it's not offensive.
Anyway, so many people in the public sector are fornicating bludgers, I used to work with this new zealand guy who was a parking inspector, he was through an agency and was on 14 quid an hour, and in summer he used to go and lie in the park and get stoned for hours on end because he was totally unsupervised!

I'm the only loser who was ever a student in my family and now thats over. Didn't stop me from lying my way into getting a new student rail card though. Not very stringent checks at Leeds city station thats for sure. I wonder if the council would accept my railcard?Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:BACK TO THE THREAD TOPIC - got anyone in your family thats a student? Not quite right. There are equalising grants throughout the UK, so boroughs and councils with a lot of low value housing recieve money from the government. The main reason I dislike council tax is the fact that the banding system means that there is a cap that the wealthy will pay, and their bills are a disproprtionate % of their income, compared to pensioners and low-income households. An income-based tax, along with the equalising grants to top up areas of low average earnings, would be fairer IMO. But then, I'm a wishy-washy LibDem voter, so I would say that.jamesmcdonnell wrote:The whole reason council tax came about was Maggie thatchers fault, she took away the funding to local councils from central government, forcing every local body to raise the majority of their funds. That's all well and good, but the poorer boroughs where people earn the least, also need the most money levvied from their citizens, and so people feel the pinch more. Rich councils like Ken and Chelsea, have ridiculously low council taxes, and yet they have fornicating minted bastards living there. That is just plain wrong.
It's also worth remembering that, for most of us, this is the only visable tax. Everything else is hidden away in other charges, or taken from us without us ever seeing it. So that's a positive for it, I reckon, because at least we know what the fuckers are screwing us for.
its diificult tho, the systems are always open to abuse and people taking advantage, for example those scum sucking council fuckheads you read about in the paper that just populate and spawn to get more fornicating housing allowances that their kids dont benefit from anyway, if ever anything makes my blood boil its a headline reading
"11 kids and i havent worked in 19 years"
i would immediately stop all benefits and say get a fornicating job you leech, theres next to fornicate all unemployment in this country no excuse to sit on your arse drinking tennants and smoking lambert and butlers all fornicating day.
Ive worked very hard for the past 14 years, sometimes weekend sometime middle of the night calls, whatever to be successful and to be comfortable and begrudge lazy skanky chavs like that taking one penny out of my pay packet.
have no problem helping people who want to be helped but some folk take the living piss.
deep breaths
footnote on the tax did you know oil is taxed twice once import and again through the pump / vat.
The oil major i work for makes no money through the pumps in this country, they only make money on the mars bars, oil lubes etc, 80% is tax. That sucks immeasurably for the consumer and most think its the oil companies lining their pockets, while they do, they dont do it in the UK, the gvt do.

Yes, agreed, what we have in this country is a 'I'm too good for that' attitude.
this is what makes me laugh about people getting up in arms about immigration and asylum seekers, most of the people who come here from some shithole are glad of the opportunity to work.
when was the last time you saw a white european stock cleaning toilets at an airport or picking up litter on the trains? I certainly don't remember.
without immigrant labour, this country would grind to a fornicating halt, because nobody born in this country would do such poorly paid jobs. The lazy arse chavs can't be fucked, they'd rather get stoned and hang out at shopping malls and claim the dole.
The people who work on the council bins are different, because they have rights and benefits, they are council employees, and as such are well paid and well protected form abuse.
The majority of people doing menial jobs these days are contract workers who are paid fack all, whilst the agencies which hire them make a fornicating fortune on contracts from local councils.
If anyone wonders why MRSA is on the increase, and hospitals are so filthy, I'll tell you why. They did away with the directly employed hospital ancillary staff who used to maintain cleanliness in favour of tendered bids to private third party companies who now run it. The people they employ are poorly paid, ill treated and unskilled, with no job prospects, and they hire the bare minimum of people possible to maximise profits. Some of the cleaners at the hospital where I work barely speak english, and the poor bastards work two shifts a day to try and make ends meet. Is it any wonder they aren't dilligent?
Christ, this is turning into a political soapbox this forum.....

Yep, call me a fornicating commie pudendum, but I do believe that those who have vast pots of wealth should be heavily taxed, after all, how much does one person need? i'm not talking about the 90% tax of the Wilson era, but there needs to be more tax relief at the lower end, and higher tax at the other end. There are people earning hundreds of thousands a year, a mate of mine earnt 500k last year, as a city headhunter. his end of year bonus was 200k. Now sure, he paid 40% tax on a large part of that, but is that enough? Aside from making his company money, what does his job contribute to society...fornicate all.
Someone who is earning £16,000 - £20,00 grand a year shouldn't really be paying much tax at all, especially as many of the people on those salaries are working in the front line of public services, and contribute a lot more to society than someone who works in the city who just lines their own pockets. anyone earning that amount is fucked for buying a property, meanwhile someone whose only contribution to society is selling stocks and shares and other investment products, ends up with a property portfolio.
'taxes are for the poor' i forget who said that now, but it's true. The super rich have any number of means to dodge tax, and they tie their money so nobody can get at it.

Jings crivens help ma boab boys...I go off for the afternoon and discover David Dimbleby has taken over that quaint old boxing forum I used to peruse.
Re Council tax...there must be a way you could 'disapear'...work for cash...live under the Thames or something...burn your fingerprints off. Just a suggestion, although I think I'd rather pay the tax.
Re politics, I think everyone's a bit of an arse. Blair's a power-crazed maniac, and, although I'm not one of those who likes to drivel on about it, I think he fucked with WMDs. If he and Bush had just said "We're going to invade Iraq coz Saddam is a murdering tosser" I wouldn't have had any objection. Michael Howard is surely a vampire, and all his impediments like saying "peepull" instead of people will just make world leaders piss themselves at the UN summit. That leaves Kennedy & Liberals. I quite Charlie boy purely for his no-messing "I smoke and drink" but his party would probably shit themselves if they ever got to power.
Well, I think thats it.

im asian , and a council tax payer and i don't get fornicating black bin bags delivered anymore, yet my council tax keeps going up, the local parks are decaying, the local community centre is being shut, leaves my town without a soul.
A bit of inside information here, my brother-in-law works for a big accountancy firm (delloitte) and his project is working with transport for london (tfl). They charge tfl £180 an hour for his services, a senior consultant charges £250 an hour. Not a day but hour. He says that they are drilled in to bill & bill tfl, or whatever project they have been assigned to. He tells me that most of his work is done in three days (usually less).
Makes you wanna tear out your hair and kill all councillers.

The missus worked for an employment agency for a while, and met a lot of recently accepted immigrants. It always mystified me that those immigrants and asylum seekers waiting to be processed weren't allowed to work. It's got fornicate all to do with bleeding heart liberalism, it's more that these poor sods often have a work ethic that would put most Brits to shame and will take jobs the natives often won't touch. They would be paying tax rather than collecting benefits and mixing with the locales and intergrating into society, rather than sitting around talking to their mates in their mother tounge.
Anyone that sat on their arse and didn't work for the time it took their claim to be processed would likely to be marked out by the authorities as someone who's taking the piss, and be on the first plane back home. Seems to make sense to me, anyway.
Agree with the line about people with political ambitions, too. A mate of mine always used to say that anyone who wanted to be a politician or a policeman shouldn't be allowed to be a politician or a policeman.

Whatever happended to the bin bags anyway? Greedy c*cksuckers just take everything away. I don't even get a local paper anymore!s9s wrote:im asian , and a council tax payer and i don't get fornicating black bin bags delivered anymore
We really need everyone to stand up for each other and refuse to pay Council Tax until they think of something else. Maybe some more riots like the Poll Tax would help?
I've been self-employed for the past few years and could never go back to PAYE just because I can ge a bit of my own back on the tax. I just hate getting stung over and over again in this shite country while others do f*ck all and live the good life.
With the Election coming up I don't know who to vote for, they're all c*nts!

In the first year of council tax students were supposed to pay 20%. Those who didn't got a summons, but then they abolsihed the 20% before it went to court.
I live on my own and I think a 25% reduction in council tax is taking the piss. What about all those couples who are both working? It should be a 50% reduction. And where I live I can't even get broadband, fornicating 5 miles from Exeter city centre and can't get broadband (OK perhaps not the councils fault but still).
I did get out of council tax for a year once about 9 years ago though (although no doubt the summons is on the way)...I rented a house with 3 mates. The house was supposed to be for students but we weren't. So the landlord said he'd passed this info onto the city council in question but we never heard anything. I suspect we were supposed to own up to being there, but hey, the landlord said he'd sort it.
It is criminal though council tax. They should just tax your salary a bit more, base it on that rather than value of your house. In fact if house prices aren't rising any more why has my council tax bill gone up this year???
