USA Boxing has yet to announce the 2012 Olympic selection process - i.e. the qualifiers for the Olympic trials, etc. Everyone is assuming that the 2010 National PAL will be the first qualifier with the USA Olympic Trials being in the summer of 2011. Historically, the National PAL has been a qualifier. It would make sense that the 2010 Nat'l PAL would be the qualifier as the trials will need to take place prior to the 2011 World Championships since it is the first qualifier for the Olympics.

Ringside has never been a qualifier for the USA Olympic Trials and I doubt that USA Boxing will have it be a qualifier this time either.

Especially since the Ringside is about 6 weeks away. They would have needed to let everybody know in advance because plenty of top guys will not be at the Ringside.Dennis wrote:Ringside has never been a qualifier for the USA Olympic Trials and I doubt that USA Boxing will have it be a qualifier this time either.
All I have heard and most everybody is that they will announce shortly the process and everything USA Boxing has to say. Yet, I have been hearing this since the beginning of the year, so "shortly" has been pretty long.

Wanna bet?lol. This wouldn't be the first time you heard it hear in this forum first. We have results before usab webisite does as well as other news too. Remember Baku being cancelled? Ringside won't be for a number of reasons. . . Foreign born boxers, numberof days of the tournament, timing and politics.Dennis wrote:USA Boxing has yet to announce the 2012 Olympic selection process - i.e. the qualifiers for the Olympic trials, etc. Everyone is assuming that the 2010 National PAL will be the first qualifier with the USA Olympic Trials being in the summer of 2011. USA Boxing is not disseminating info in a timely fashion. This is nothing new, but I just don't get it. How hard is it to do a weekly or monthly newsletter that updates everyone on what has been going on. They can do it by posting it on the website. If they are undecided about the selection process, they could announce that it is being debated and that it will be announced in the next month or so. At least something. As it is many people begin to wonder if it has been decided and only certain "insiders" know what is going on. That is not the way the organization should be run.

We especially need to know even more this year, considering females are allowed to participate. What will be the process for the female boxers? same as males? someone should get the word out.

3 weight classes for the womens right? That means it would have to change during the qualifiers to the right weight classes, which PAL or any other tournament has not said will happen yet. I'm waiting to hear too!!bwadd21 wrote:We especially need to know even more this year, considering females are allowed to participate.
