Or the fans who pay for tickets for the show and stay in the bar getting p*ssed - they then ask for the results of the fights!!!bennie wrote:Those 'fans' who leave an arena before the main event. Alright Spud. I wasn't referring to Fight Academy. I meant one of the larger promotional outfits that currently have a Sky deal. I think you can guess which one.Spud wrote:Wake up call wrote:1) Promoters who give out press creds but then forget to actually put any press seats out. (Happens more often than you might think)![]()

Girls dressed up in designer suits at Everton Park Sports Centre on Sunday afternoons for regional schoolboy championships, groups of men wearing suits, Amir Khan fans, women shouting "Go the body," drunken talk in the toilets, pathetic undercards, Amir Khan fans, football chants, pressuring parents at junior shows, refs and judges being abused, Amir Khan fans, computer scoring, fans who only come to see one fighter, and Amir Khan fans

couldn't have put it better..Glyn Leach wrote:People. They ruin everything in life. Give me the telly and privacy any day of the week.
Meatheads on their mobiles, with their backs to the action...
People in the bar ignoring the undercard fighters....
Mutton with fake tans screaming insults and abuse, always the loudest in the building

Some drunkard shouting EASY EASY when its clearly not
Re: What do you hate, when attending boxing shows?
Wilko wrote:What I really hate is that at most shows, apart from a sketchy running order in the programme, there is no information provided to fans to inform them of which fight is next and how long a gap there will be between fights.
At the Mitchell fight at Upton Park for example the Williams v Chisora fight was brought forward an hour from what was advertised in the programme with no announcement - as a result my mates who were in the bar missed it.
Better communication to the fans in attendance would be very welcome and lack of is my biggest pet hate about attending shows.
Spot on post. To be honest, when you think about it, the product some promoters serve up is dire. I don't necessarily mean the fights themselves but the complete lack of communication to paying punters. Contemptuous at times.
I've been to shows which have started an hour after the scheduled first bell time with family and friends sat there p'd off, out of pure loyalty. Massive gaps, fights moved or scratched...not good.
One of the best shows I went to recently was a Dennis Hobson one at Sheffield City Hall. Started on time, five fights, 20 minute interval, no gaps...show finished about 10pm so time left for a couple afterwards.

Paying that bit extra for a decent ticket, only for the empty seats near you to be invaded by morons from the cheap seats, who then proceed to ruin the night.
This is the most common thing I have experienced, and nothing has ever been done. It isn't good enough - Hence why I refuse to support live shows anymore.

I always get my own seat and put it ringside at Fight Academy shows...just in case the benefit agency is watching and see you moonlighting again.

Re: What do you hate, when attending boxing shows?
1) Little scumbags/knackers/gypos... call them what you want but they are the main reason I don't go to many shows.
Had a gang of coked up knick knacks in our seats when we got to them for Dunne-Poonsawat in the O2. Little cnuts wouldn't move, security grudgingly shifted them but then they spent half the fight throing shlt down at us.
What's the alterative? Go up and deck one of them and ruin the night?
No. I'd rather keep my hundred quid and watch it in the local or at home.
Have been to a few shows which weren't too bad but a few others were awful.
Lot of pikeys in the National Stadium also...
2) Mismatches. What's the point? Look at the Cork card last weekend. Practically every fight was a foregone conclusion. One 20-0 fighter taking on a Hungarian nobody... Other prospects taking on dummies with negative records... Waste of time.

Re: What do you hate, when attending boxing shows?
I dislike the cramped bars that take stupid amounts of time to get served and then you have to down your drink as you're not allowed to watch the boxing while holding a beverage and you don't want to miss any action.
I think the lads who try to start their own fights in the crowd are total dicks and should be strung up if they cant control themselves, especially if they are there supporting a boxer they know, as it can give that pro a bad name.
The price of programs can be scandalous, and when you buy them they just tell you generic a statement about a boxer that to the letter can be found all over the internet, it says nothing really related to what he might have been up to recently in the run up to the fight you're now going to watch, his connection or history with his opponent.

Actually, BoxRec is performing another free public service here - free customer research. We all know what we're on about because we attend shows.
Hopefully (but I doubt it) some will listen and act on it.
