Re: Macklin to drop Barker like a hot burrito??
Where exactly does one start with this ill-conceived contradictory mess?
A. it hard to take you serious after a comment like this - http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... 8#p2487628 - please note another unwarranted unprovoked personal attack!
B. "Its not true what you are saying." - whats not true? what are you saying that I am saying?
C. "There are loads of Sergio Martinez fans on this forum and when do you hear a bad word about him despite being an 'Argie', who else? Lot of love for Namibian Ali Nuumembe (pardon the spelling) Pole Albert Sosnowski, and quite a few more I could mention, there is no nationalist bias amongst the patrons of this forum and certainly not when a British fighter has been beaten fair and square by someone not from these shores." - your point being? When do I slag off British fighters for being British? I dont just follow Irish fighters, outside the P4P fighters my main interest is in Irish fighters - just like most English fight fans interests are in English fighters. So isn't it a little hypocritical to criticize me as being biased for mainly discussing Irish fighters when English posters mainly discuss English fighter. No?
D. "As for Barker beating Duddy, Lee or Macklin - who knows? But there is certainly nothing laughable about Barker scalping all three." - I have said plenty of times that Barker could beat all three, I just think that all three of them would beat Barker - but I wouldn't be shock if they didn't - is that so bad that British posters on here feel the need to bait me after every post.
E. "if you don't like Britain (as you have made plain on here numerous times) - Dublin is cheap enough to return to on Ryanair - don't know why you live in a city in a country that you obviously have no love for." - oh Jesus! where is this one coming from? Maybe its your true colours shining through. Because I support Irish boxers I somehow now hate Britain. Get a grip of yourself. I have more British friends than Irish friends and love living here in Manchester - I wish is was a bit sunnier but that is hardly going to improve if I was in Ireland.

Oh come on, you are baiting the Barker fans everytime you post one of your numerous threads with the underlining theme being Barker is crap. You clearly get a kick out of the attention you know you'll receiveslapbangwhallop wrote:D. "is that so bad that British posters on here feel the need to bait me after every post.

Re: Macklin to drop Barker like a hot burrito??
I dont think Barker is crap. I don't think I have ever said anything like that. I have always contended that there is little to choose between Duddy/Barker/Lee/macklin and that they could all beat each other. However others have contended that Barker was streets ahead of the other three with Duddy and Lee being little more than bums. I do think that Barker fighting Belgacham for the European title was embarrassing and have turned up the volume on him since then but that hardly equates to me disliking Britain or British fighters as some have suggested.Lenny wrote:Oh come on, you are baiting the Barker fans everytime you post one of your numerous threads with the underlining theme being Barker is crap. I don't only discuss British fighters pal, and I've now been accused of being a troll twice by Irish posters in a week, despite over 3,000 posts and years of posting on boxing websites!slapbangwhallop wrote:To be honest you are coming across as a troll and a hypocrite to be honest - accusing me of only discussing Irish fighters when all you discuss if British fighters! Give us a breakdown of why you feel Barker won't beat Macklin, the areas he is superior etc...
Rather than just slagging him off.
I haven't been slagging off Barker here, but answer your question as to why do I think Macklin beats Barker - quite simple really, Barker struggles with pressure fighters and doesn't seem to work well when his rhythm is disrupted and can not dictate his own pace. Barker has a ropey chin has and been dropped more times then a cheating girlfriend. I cant see Barker being able to hold Macklin off with the jab and if Macklin's hands hold up through the fight I see him dropping Barker heavily after say six rounds, Barker will get up and then be put down again with another two rounds and then be stopped on his feet, exhausted, in the 10th - that's what my crystal ball tells me.
I actually think it would be 75/25 in favour of Macklin with the other most likely outcome being a Barker points victory.
I'll send you my contact details, I'm a news/sports reporter on a daily newspaper, feel free to get in touch. I'm not biased towards any nation, even my own.
Your arguments are weak, I'll leave you to the circling vultures Leonard.

I didnt say you only discuss British fighters - I said you mainly discuss British fighters. Just like I mainly but not exclusively discuss Irish fighters. But thats makes me biased and you neutral! Right gotcha!!
I know exactly who you are and who you write for so no need to be bigin' yerself up hombre.
As for my arguments being weak - thats weak! at least point out whioch argument is weak and why - otherwise, once again, you just come off sounding like a childish troll.

Perhaps boxrec should give the irish their own forum,a peoples republic boxing forum if you like for slapbangwallop and the other hand full of anti brit freedom fighters to spit their venom.
Re: Macklin to drop Barker like a hot burrito??

Re: Macklin to drop Barker like a hot burrito??
Maybe Im being in cynical, but all these American-bound Irishmen didn't want anything to do with Barker as he was too dangerous and could derail their American-Irish pay days.
Now those paydays have not materialised they all now turn back to Barker, who has been toiling away collecting the belts on ITV for the main part.
I couldn't care any less for the circumstances, I just want to see a good fight between 2 decent European level fighters.

Their careers will move on without facing each other.
Thats my take on it - but I'll be over the moon if I'm wrong.

No, I see Barker outboxing him. I think Barker can use his reach and skill to keep Macklin on the outside, keeping him of the with the jab and backing him up with the right hand before moving and getting out of trouble. Barker on points imo.

If Macklin pulls out of this fight he'll be properly shown up. He's never backward in bigging himself up and having diggs at other boxers. But his words and actions don't always match up. Come on Matt
Re: Macklin to drop Barker like a hot burrito??
Macklin/Barker looks like it deffo wont happen so its a case of whos next for a shot or who wants it as Lee is looking at Martinez and Duddy wont be boxing for a few months as he has Chevez tomorrow night so ???????????????? ![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)
