Fury and McDermott were a disgrace

I felt it was an entertaining fight, with a good balance, but wasn't the quality we could normally expect from a main event. Would have better suited as a main undercard bout etc..

Fair play to Fury for the win, but both men are a disgrace. That seems strong, I know. I respect their fighting hearts but you cannot be that out of condition and call yourself a professional boxer. It is an insult to the greats gone by and those who work their bollocks off and don't get a quarter of what these two doughboys will be paid.

McDermott could blow three stone with a proper diet and be a good cruiser. Fury could lose two and a half stone and be a good prospect. Neither of them were in any sort of condition.

Even if they can't live on boxing alone, it is no excuse to show up in that kind of shape for a twelve round fight. To be that overweight means they are either stuffing their faces nonstop or not training properly. I go to school, work, and still manage to get to the gym five days a week and remain in good shape. I am an amatuer and only fight nine minutes total, so it amazes me when two professionals who get paid to be ready for thirty-six minutes of action show up looking like that.

I consider this to be a high level of boxing. They may not be world beaters, but there are about one thousand other heavyweights in the world who are ranked below them.

As the so called blue riband divison, they have a responsibilty to maintain the credibility of the sport. Someone on a basketball scholarship in a US university would get reamed if they tried turning up in that condition. A pro player would get sacked.

Let`s not forget that Fury is only 21 years old, so he has plenty of time to improve.

He has raw talent and size, but he needs a proper set up around him to get into proper shape, decent sparring and to get a s ense of proffesionalism.

I get this feeling that with his family so involved in his boxing, that he will not get the right advice.. Nothing against his family at all, but he would be better off distancing them from his career in my opinion.

I think Fury has lots of potential but is being held back by his family. I thought he would finally start to improve when he joined Brian Hughes, who I rate very highly, but Brian wasn't allowed to get on with his job because of Fury's Dad and uncle constantly sticking their noses in.

He needs to lose weight, get some decent sparring (like Hughes got him in Germany), tell his family to keep out of his career and get a good trainer.

McDermott's always been overweight, lazy, gutless and not particularily good. A bit harsh maybe but true.

I thought Fury looked in better shape than usual. Maybe it was just his tan! He has excellent potential, good speed and a great chin... but as per other posters; I think he has not got the right set up to make it.
