Leapai steps up
Re: Leapai steps up
Lennox Lewis would destroy Jack Dempsey only because what I'm trying to get my point across that Lennox Lewis is just too big he'd keep Dempsey on the end of his jab and bomb him out comfortable.
Look David TUA couldn't get inside and he would punch a lot harder than Jack Dempsey I don't care what anyone says .
Now I'll go to the big hitters
George Foreman 100 kg
Mike Tyson 99 kg
Earnie Shavers 94 kg
Johnathan Banks 102 kg
Now which one is the odd one out ,look the top three are freaks of boxings hundred or so years I'm just talking about mere mortals.

Re: Leapai steps up
Banks has fought mostly as a cruiserweight.
Re: Leapai steps up
I'd like to go back and talk about Leapai .Now Alex is bringing something to the heavyweight division which it lacks and thats combinations if Alex becomes more aggressive and works ,he'll go a long way.Walker will only try and hold him but Alex will break out of it and knock him out .
Banks has fought as a cruiser and he still KOed Walker.

Bruno won the first eight rounds - true he hung on to win but McCall lost that fight over the 12 rounds! I don't think you could get anyone to say that Bruno wasn't a worthy winner.davidk59 wrote:McCall is not an immortal ,but he's a bit better than mediocre with his chin and with his point losses how many was he robbed ! Including the Bruno fight was it in England .
Re: Leapai steps up
The only reason Bruno survived is because that spineless referee didn't stop him holding on for dear life, as to stop himself from being KOed .He didn't take a point of him ,didn't even warn him, never lone disqualify him. He was getting bashed . If their was a real referee over there Bruno would have not seen the final bell.

Re: Leapai steps up
What's Leapai's fitness like? He's gained quite a lot of weight since his early days.
Re. the opponents, I think they should have done it the other way around. I feel Beck might be content as the journeyman these days, while Walker still has ambition.

Re: Leapai steps up
big step up
beck is average c level...not a big puncher and fairly lazy
but Travis walker is a big lug....a power puncher with a dodgy defence and chin
i go for walker to stop Leapai inside 3 but if he dsnt he could gas
the odds are against but if alex wins both he could instantly become a b level gatekeeper...altho i dont think the beck fight will happen

I mean in terms of Alex. Logically the harder of the two fights (on paper) should be second.colin russell wrote:l dont think it matters who Alex fights first there both in for a tough night.

Re: Leapai steps up
Alex wins these two fights and wins them convincinly. David Tua may be next call out for Alex.
Re: Leapai steps up
Alex will easily win his next two fights....no sweat against the kind of opposition he is to face. David Tua: oh.... I doubt Tua will waste his time with Alex, there is no global PPV appeal. Tua's window of time is short- he has two more fights on his free to air deal and then it will be a crack for a title for big time PPV. Say if Tua fights Alex, it will probably be Tua V Cameron all over again. Cameron and Alex are simillar: as in Alex taking the road Cameron took to get his ranking bolstered. Therefore no point undoing all that hard work by trying to fight a guy like Tua defeats the purpose.

I think he could beat Beck easily but Walker is quite a big ask.colin russell wrote:Alex wins these two fights and wins them convincinly. David Tua may be next call out for Alex.

tua? as if. thats dumb to suggest such a thing. clearly not enough in it for either guy to take this fight.

Re: Leapai steps up
just to end any further questions of leapai & tua it's simple as this they both won't fight each other no matter who has what and what not.......out of respect both being samoan heritage and as close as brothers as others would call it and the same went for tua & thunder in the 90's.......Respect and SAMOA represent.......cheers

No offence i know boxing is a two man circus,BUT its a one man show and me personally,I have no brothers of heritage, creed or background in the ring,it's a shame that alex's people may think that way regardless of race,in boxing theirs only one way to the top and thats through the best,I couldn't care for politics. Its like me saying I won't fight another aussie cause we share blood,it's a bit of a cop out(Alex has done his best and ducked nowone,i'll give him that and he's even beaten me)just getting a little bit tired of the bretherin buisness,He should be open to fighting anybody, anywhere as long as it furthers his career.
P.S,goodluck with the upcoming fights alex.

Alex is a million miles away from fighting Tua. Whether or not it happens is irrelevant because it just won't happen. Tua has no time to waste.....

Re: Leapai steps up
hey rhino whats happening mate? yeah i tend to agree but its just the way it is in my culture alex keeps in touch with tua & tauasa and masoe as 1 of tua's corner also fights under the guidance of noel who took him to a world title........alex wants to lead the aussie heavies and stepping up to Travis Walker is great mate for his 1st international fight bringing them here is what noel and associates are triyng to do but first is first is Travis Walker.........lets get behind our Aussie Heavyweight.iron rhino wrote:No offence i know boxing is a two man circus,BUT its a one man show and me personally,I have no brothers of heritage, creed or background in the ring,it's a shame that alex's people may think that way regardless of race,in boxing theirs only one way to the top and thats through the best,I couldn't care for politics. Its like me saying I won't fight another aussie cause we share blood,it's a bit of a cop out(Alex has done his best and ducked nowone,i'll give him that and he's even beaten me)just getting a little bit tired of the bretherin buisness,He should be open to fighting anybody, anywhere as long as it furthers his career.

ok mate what ever you think thats all good mate.Rogue wrote:Alex is a million miles away from fighting Tua. Whether or not it happens is irrelevant because it just won't happen. Tua has no time to waste.....
Re: Leapai steps up
Tua has Barret next, then one more fight this year with his free to air TV deal...then on in it's a race for the title. so he has very little time frames to work with, therefore there is no time to waste. It's not slur or anything like that, just the fact that Tua has to get a move on. He publicly said he's got 2-3 years prior to fighting Cameron (mid 2009) and is being a realist.

great. good to hear....
Re: Leapai steps up
good luck to alex.
can't wait for haumono to get back to fitness as well as he showed great things in his last fight and seems to be still improving. be interesting how he goes when making the next step up as well. another two good tough fights like his last one should do him the world of good.
we r usually pretty thin on talent in the heavies so hopefully both these guys keep winning for a while yet.
