Sonny Banks was a blue-collar fighter with a big punch -- one of only four fighters in the world who ever put Muhammad Ali on his butt. He would've turned 70 years old today (June 28, 2010) had he not died in the ring after a KO by Leotis Martin.
Boxing historian Christopher James Shelton has written a riveting piece on Banks at www.ringsideboxingshow.com, along with other great work about the 100th anniversary of Johnson-Jeffries and a colorful interview with the late, great boxing manager, Al Fenn. Check it out and enjoy!

What is it about Leotis Martin? Ended Banks, was ended by Liston and I think I'm missing another one...
