Damn, Bowe is FAT.

I respect his decision to fight again but he needs to lost about 3 stone by the looks of it. I don't think Bowe really wants to fight anymore... if he did, he wouldn't be so out of shape.

Although he DID do 10 hard rounds apparently...

Bowe is shot to fornicate. From various reports it sounds like Bowe was getting smacked around the ring in rounds 5 and 10, and that's by a ho-hum journeyman. Christ even Foreman came in in better shape at the start of his comeback. Bowe needs to reconsider his options, he's got 20 mill in the bank apparently, can't he find something else to give meaning to his life?

So we should tie this with the other thread and get Tyson to fight Bowe, that with the promised that whoever is the most washed-up between the two has to retire. Or better yet we could have a box off between Bowe, Tyson, Holyfield and any other heavies who need the money but are obviously past it.

Bowe doesnt look like he is going anywhere based on that video clip. Too fat and looks really aged now. Even in the current heavyweight division i cant see him having much success. I'll try and remember him for what he was

As I said on the current scene, he's making Tua look like a 10 year old featherweight breezing through all comers.

Seeing the clips though, he looks about 80. Christ. What's going to happen first, someone whips his ass or he needs someone to wipe it for him?

Considering the layoff, that he was 40-50lbs overweight and assuming the fight indeed was on three weeks notice it's easily explained.
We don't know what he'll look like in six months time so maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt for now.

I watched the fight, and find it hard to believe anyone could score it for Bowe (especially 96-92

), even with the 2 points deducted from Zumbrun. And make no mistake about it, Zumbrun seriously *rocked* Bowe on several occasions. It was appalling listening to the FSN announcers creaming their jeans every time Bowe landed a less-than-snappy jab, followed either by a wildly missing right or nothing at all. In my opinion, Bowe landed a *single* good punch in the fight (the left to the body that put Zumbrun down).

But it's very simple: Fox Sports is in bed with Goossen/Tutor promotions (you did notice that Joe Goossen was in Bowe's corner, right?), even a washed-up Bowe is eminently more marketable than a Billy Zumbrun, so no way was a decision going to go against Big Fatty. There was also some (I suspect staged for promotional purposes, a la pro wrasslin') prefight smack talking between Bowe and FSN announcer/house fighter James Toney - Bowe calling Toney a "bum." Whether Toney wins or loses to Ruiz, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a "bad blood brothers" fight (or some similarly-promoted crock of shit) between Bowe and Toney before year's end.

If he carries on like this then in six months time Bowe may well be on life support in some hospital somewhere... the guy is a walking tragedy already!... the people who are behind his 'comeback' are nothing more than scum. When Bowe is wandering around wondering who he is in ten years time these people will be still raking the money in at the expese of another washed up fighter who should be doing something else.

This is the problem with the heavyweight division these days. Names mean more then talent to a lot of fans. Which is why people will pay to see Mike Tyson fight, and not admit to themselves that he is past it.

280 ibs is a ridiculous weight to come in at. Has he been visiting takeaways with David Tua and Danny Williams or something?

He is going to end up koed by some Journeyman... the fact that he was rocked so badly and took so many headshots in this last fight is deeply worrying... I really see another Greg Page situation looming, or very possibly worse as Bowe is in much worse shape than Page was... the people allowing this to go on should be shot!.

There's no way he'd be fighting if he had $20 million in the bank. The man is naturally lazy I really dont think he would. That was reported somewhere but is it really true? He's had a well documented messy divorce I guess he's not broke but I doubt he has $20m available.

Well those were the figures quoted on maxboxing. Bowe has made it clear he isn't fighting for money, and that he doesn't need it. He's fighting to give meaning to his life.

Bowe wants to fight, he just doesn't like training, christ, he never did, why would we expect it to be any different now when he wouldn't train seriously when he was champion.

Was this when he was going through the trouble getting relicenced? Obviously wouldnt want people to think it was about the money at that point.

If he's not fighting for the money then he would be quitting after nearly getting KO'd by Zumbrun last week, even Bowe's not that stupid.

Saw an interview with Bowe recently, and I'm afraid he sounds near punch drunk - slurring his words, losing the thread of what he's talking about etc etc

No wonder the courts bought that brain damage argument...

From his own view point there's NO WAY he should be stumbling round a ring taking taking more punches to the head.

Lord almighty there must be easier ways for a man with 20 mill in the bank to pass his time.

It's all the more poignant, because Bowe was so bright, humorous and articulate when he first arrived on the scene, he seemed to be the perfect ambassador for the sport.

All was not as it seemed obviously though, as the man obviously had a seriously mean streak in him.

I never realised until recently that Bowe grew up in a crack house! Christ. There's an excellent piece on Max about him, from some guy who writes for the ring magazine.
