Big risk for Matchroom, Sky, the Board to take under the circumstances. Just surprised it got this far, to be honest — perhaps none of them were aware of the court case date, would be surprised if they were and still wanted to include Salam

Well,it wasnt a secret. As i said earlier,it had been in the papers and mentioned on there,it would have been listed for trial a while ago.Surely his management should have told the promoters, unless they were hoping to get it kicked out on the day.Glyn Leach wrote:Big risk for Matchroom, Sky, the Board to take under the circumstances. Im taking Mendy and David on opposite sides of the drawWestEndRiot wrote:There's money to be made here for the gamblers among us. The bookies didnt update their prices for about 3 or 4 days after Quigley dropped out, i lumped on Sam Horton at 18/1 and he's down to 6 now, you can get 5/1 for 2nd favourite Mendy.
They still have Salam as massive favourite, wishing i took Paul David now at 16/1 but he's still available at 6 if you're quick.
Re: Salam voted into prizefighter!
Matchroom hadnt been made aware i think the first they knew was from of this board.
Not a good way of going about business realy.

I quite like Spencer but hasn't there got to be some concern that he knew or should have known about the trial date (which carries on into tomorrow by the way)!?

Wasn't the photo session last Tuesday. Do you think Spencer might have said - oh by the way Tony starts his trial on Thursday - might not make wednesday night.

Very unprofessional and a little sneaky imo by Salam and his people, thought better of spencer, no one should have touched Salam with a barge pole until this is all cleared up and he is found not guilty, if he's found guilty I dont wanna see him in a british ring again.
Got a tenner on David at 6/1 lastnight, also had a sneaky bet on local lad Sam Horton at 17/2

Re: Salam voted into prizefighter!
Im suprised nobody has mentioned the Salam court case on this thread until recently.
I mentioned it a while back (when he was gonna fight Ovill Mckenzie on the Munroe fight at coventry.) that it might not be good for Sky to gamble on such a bloke.
Obviously Tony might be getting stitched on this case, or he is guilty as charged - but either way, being on television brings risks for the broadcaster & promoter should it be the latter. Having your event tarnished by a participant, especially one capable of winning it, would smear the Prizefighter name, if regular Joe Public thought it was a show for criminals to slug against each other.
Anyway, by the flavour of the previous comments, it would seem this is yesterday's news now and someone else will fill his position.
Poor move if this did come as a surprise to Matchroom/prizefighter - as it's an honourable event for pro's to earn a quid... and may impact on Salam's handlers in the future (that's if they knew too, which is likely to be the case.)

I understand that Tony was convicted today - does anybody know any more?
