Could be once again great timing getting Cleverly this shot, especially if they can make Erdei travel. It's been years that we've had Erdei struggle away against modest opposition and although this is a big step up for Cleverly, he's shown enough so far imo to be very much a live underdog.

Also should he win this, it means we have the lineal light heavyweight champion!!!!
(no one really seems to talk about lineal champions anymore?)

I believe it will be Muro Kurat for the WBO Interim title on 18 September.

Where did the Zsolt Erdei rumour come from?

this rumour was in april, erdei obviously doesn't want to fight for a ebu title when he is an unbeaten fighter who has won world titles.

Cleverly will probably beat Murat.

I think they are evenly matched, but with a hometown advantage and almost six extra inches in height, Cleverly by decision is the most probable outcome. Murat will be a big step up for Clev, he has a win over recently dethroned (by way of a dubious decision) WBA kingpin Gabriel Campillo, so he has passed tests at a high level. Cleverly's opposition has been relatively poor to date but he looks to be very talented. When a fighter has looked impressive against mediocre opposition it can be very difficult to predict how they will perform when they step up. Some fighters continue to shine, while others, most recently Kevin Mitchell, falter and we find out what level they can successfully operate at. In this case, Cleverly should shine. Murat has no power, and his size and style play into Cleverly's hands.

I would like to see Cleverly against Braehmer, who is the current WBO champ. Braehmer is a very hard puncher and I think Clev might have some chin issues. That would make for an interesting clash.

The EBU has issued a statement that purse bids have gone out to all bodies for Clev V zsolt Erdei. Go onto the BBBoC website and it is on there.

Even so i'd be surprised to see Erdei fight Cleverly.

I'd think if Erdei continue's to fight he'll get a straight title shot and it would take place in Germany or Hungary.

Welsh boxer and boffin Nathan Cleverly takes on Germany's Karo Murat in a fine-looking showdown for the interim WBO light-heavyweight title in September.
Cleverly, who lives up to his name with a degree in maths, is on the cusp of some serious numbers if he gets past the unbeaten Murat, 22-0 (13), a long-time super-middleweight who remains untested since moving up to light-heavyweight last year. Cleverly, the reigning European light-heavyweight champion, is naturally bigger than Murat and probably harder-hitting. Unbeaten in 19 outings, Nathan has stopped his last six opponents, including Italy's experienced Antonio Brancalion in five rounds for the EBU belt. He looks a great prospect at 23.
We could say the same about the 26-year-old Murat, who holds two wins over Cristian Sanavia, another of those seasoned Italians, in his super-middleweight days and also held the European belt down there, which he relinquished once he moved to 12st 7lbs, where he has registered three routine wins, two of them in full 12-rounders. Murat, of Armenian descent, is strong, rugged and aggressive in the mould of Arthur Abraham but five of his last six opponents have taken him 10 rounds or more and you wonder if he flatters to deceive, although he was defending his European title for the large part and you can't really knock an unbeaten fighter.
No, neither man has put a foot wrong and they enjoy powerful backing, so home advantage is vital, and it looks like promoter F rank Warren has got the fight to Britain. At home, Cleverly is the pick; in Germany one would lean towards Murat. It is that kind of fight.
