Looks like a villain from a Guy Ritchie film but I join the voices of those who say he's a good bloke, having dealt with him professionally. Got a Spud-like anecdote about his Lamborghini, if anyone's interested...

Well, it involved him picking me up in his Lambo (you'll never guess who I was on the phone to at the time) and driving to his office (you'll never guess who was there) and ended with me giving MY autograph to some schoolboys outside Potters Bar station.

(The bits in brackets are creative licence, I didn't speak to or meet anyone famous).

The last bit was because a group of teenage lads saw me getting out of the Lambo, and they knew the driver must be Jess Harding, since it was his home town. Since I was wearing sporty clothes and carrying a kit bag, they assumed I was one of his boxers. They started talking to me and asked who I was. I gave them my real name and one of them said "Yeah, I've heard of you" (lol). I told them I'd just renewed my contract with Jess, who had promised me a British title shot if I won my next fight. I ended up autographing their school books!

Funny guy Jess, he was at prizefighter last night, we used to spar at Finchley ABC when Darkie Smith trained us, in 78-79, loves the padded shoulder pad suits, but tight as a crabs arse

I once saw Jess outclass Jean Chanet, the balding, rugged Frenchman who went on to lick Derek Williams twice and remain upright against Lennox Lewis.

I saw Gary Mason at the Notting Hill Carnival and he is the biggest man I have ever seen in my life. He is massive; anyone he hit flush would be absolutely knackered.

Indeed.

Mason was a decent fighter. His record probably flatters him, but perversely it is this fact that makes a lot of people underrate him. He could have been matched tougher and still done well.

I remember Gary mason when he used to live in Lordswood, i used to see him around quite often. He seemed like a nice guy.

Anyone know what he is up to now?
