Was he from Lewiston, Maine or Lewiston, Idaho? I think the former.
And should all those Portland, Oregon bouts really be Portland, Maine?

Hello Ric,
Maine all the way. There was a clean up program that changed a lot of the Maine bouts to Oregon. BTW how was the holiday? Were you able to see Jimmy?

Hi, Robin. Yes, I had a grand time. Travelled 3100 miles. Got 37.7 miles to the gallon, too. Went from Seattle east across Washington state, Idaho, and Montana to the Little Big Horn Battlefield. Then to Devil's Tower, Black Hills National Park, Deadwood (South Dakota), Sturgis (they were having their massive motorcycle rally the week I was travelling), Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, then back west. I then visited Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park, then back across to southern Idaho to Craters of the Moon, Boise, up across Oregon to visit a couple of Oregon Trail sites, eastern Washington to see if I could find Jimmy, Portland (to do some more boxing research on Johnny Hansen - a pet project), then back home.

Yes, I did get to see in person, say "Hello" to and shake Jimmy's hand. It was very brief. He is looking fine, and is in very good physical health. However, just a few months ago, his family had to place him in a facility to care for those suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. More than that I cannot really say. Obviously, I was unable to ask him any questions.

Now thats sightseeing, I hope to make a similar trek next year and check out some of the historic sites that you have mentioned. Sorry to hear that Jimmy has Alzheimers, great man with a hell of a career.
