BBC 'COVERAGE' OF CUBA VS ENGLAND FIGHTS A BLOODY JOKE!!!!!!

Post by silkov »

:o :x :x :-? ....ONLY I'M NOT LAUGHING!!!.
About 20 mins of inane chatter with wicky, Bunce and Woodhall about wicky and Ahmir etc etc etc!!!... and scandalously short highlights of the actual fights!. Why am I surprised though when the BBC cut the ABA's to shite highlights!!!!.
Do us a favour BBC and stop showing boxing altogether as you haven't a clue!...

It was Cuba vs the Four nations - if it was Cuba vs England a 7-1 defeat wouldn't sound so bad, but this was Cuba against the best in the UK.

It was 8-0 from my point of view as that Cuban was robbed against Price... obviously they didn't fancy a whitewash!.
The coverage was absolute tripe!... who wants to hear again and again the same old questions about Ahmir! I hope to christ he turns pro soon and shuts them all up. And why plug the Hatton vs Tsyu fight when you'll even have to pay extra to watch it on SKY!!!... has the BBC got some kind of deal going with allegedly!?.

They do have a radio deal? Or certainly did.

Perhaps you saw the whole fight live, Silkov - but surely your tongue is firmly in cheek with regards to the Pryce fight. That looked one sided, that Cuban was just a kid with an awful lot to learn.

Not totally in cheek, the Cuban landed a lot of punches which were ignored, especially in the first round.

The only win we had was cut short by 2 rounds, gutted. Cubans were just a different class. I liked the programme before the show. Interesting listening to what Savon had to say

PATHETIC

How much did the BBC spend on sending Bunce to interview that Irish lad. All we got to see was the Bunce swagger, Bunce buying a cup of tea!! Bunce drinking a cup of tea and some nice shots of lorrys, cnntainers and a Danger Of Drowning sign? Oh and we saw a lot of nice fences as well.

How pathetic

Then back to the studio for some chattering with Woodhall, Bunce and Hatton to repeat conversations we have all heard before 10 times.

Then there was the usual obsesive, repetative, boring chat about Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Kahn, Amir Khan, Amir Khan, Amir Khan  ...............blah blah blah.

Oh and then about 10 minutes of whats it called??? erm we were we here???? Oh yeah Boxing.

PATHETIC!

And then TWO HOURS of feckin Golf!!!!

I quite enjoyed what I saw. Much better than nothing.

Unfortunately only caught the end of Kindelan's fight.

Price was dominating the first two rounds so unsure what Silkov was watching.

I thought the scoring in Andy Lee's fight was very strange. The judges scored at the strangest times although the result was correct.

That short interview with Bunce and Lee had me cringing with the 'gritty' shots of a building site. Andy Lee seems like a decent guy though.

Funniest moment of the show happened when Inverdale called Richie Woodhall a 'director' only for Richie (with great timing) to correct him with 'manager' (having corrected Bunce moments earlier with the same thing). Priceless.

I was watching the fact that the Cuban landed a good few punches in the first round which never got counted yet every pawing punch from Price seemed to get two points!.
I dodn't find anything amusing in the studio 'jinks'... the BBC seem more interested in peddling Bunce and Woodhall as some kind of double act rather than actually showing the boxing!!!!...... unreal!.

Inverdale: "What do you make of that Richie Woodhall, Manager (or is that director) of all of boxing?"

Silkov to say he got robbed when only 2 rounds was shown is a bit of an unreliable statement. I think price did well and controlled the Cuban in the rounds shown. He looked massive

I thought it was the Cuban who looked small? I suppose he has to be 91kg tho. Any idea what height Price is anyone?

A lot of shots in all the rounds they showed never got counted - I wondered whether the judges where even watching the fights.

btw that was a good effort from Frankie Gavin, and the interviewer should be ashamed for asking him about how well Khan did aginst Kindelan.

Twinkle Toes, good point about the interviewer - I think someone from Gavin's corner should have given him more of a pat on the back. He looked absolutely gutted, and he shouldn't have been.

Whilst he said there won't be no Kindelan in 2008, his experession gave me the impression that he was thinking "3 years is a long time to wait to get outclassed in the Olympics". I wasn't there so perhaps his team did show encouragement, but it didn't look like it. Well done lad, you done us proud.

I can sort of see Silkov's point on the Super Heavy fight - apparently the Cuban only scored 4 points all fight. I saw a combination of body shots when he pushed Pryce back, I think only 1 scored there - looked to have been 3 or 4 clean ones in that flurry alone. However, Pryce was well in control for the two rounds I saw.

I enjoyed the documentary on Cuba, but I too wish they showed more boxing and less chatter. Bunce is an annoying too. Alot of what he said was rubbish.

I too thought the scoring of the one fight where the British guy won was dodgy. The Cuban landed many punches that didn't score.

Price is 6ft 7.

Kindelan rocked! He was totally relaxed through it and threw a solid hook that nearly floored Gavin, but he went against the ropes. Not bad though for only having 11 senoir bout so it wern't a bad loss.

Although the bbc only showed 2 rounds of the super heavy it was a bit sly to only score 4 points altogether for the cuban when he threw a decent amount.

When watching the documentry about Cuban boxers I was suprised Savon never fought as a superheavy weight being 6ft 6 though yet Stevenson did.

Thanks mate! nice to knwo I don't need to go to spec-savers yet!... 8)

I also thought that interviewer was a right arsehole asking Gavin to talk about Khan!... give the guy (Gavin) some respect! he's only 19 and has gone through and won the ABA'S and given Kindelan a decent fight... he should be well pleased with himself.
Khan has become totally overrated imo!... people seem to have forgotten that he hasn't even won anything of note yet!.
