My issues as well about Derry he is tall enough for lightweight, but does he have the strength? Would have gone to Salford to watch, but unfortunatley have a wedding to go to that night!

Not sure at all. Did you struggle to make the weight? If you did and you were drained at SF it makes sense to go up. You have the height for LW but its a tough division with some pretty strong lads. I think you need to test the waters and see how you feel after 8 hard rounds before getting into the mix with the best in Britain. Lets just hope this weight suits you better and you do well. Good luck with your fresh start but dont be in too much of a rush. You are young enough to take your time. You definately need 3 or 4 confidence booster fights to get you going again before going for a title. Keep busy, and good luck for the future.

its a hard one wen u say did i struggle with the weight i got down to the weight and have never failed on the scales but its as the fight goes on and come the 5 round my body was gettin tired , have been with a strenth and condition coach for 2 years now nd the last 10 months have been lifting heavy weights am using john moorse uni in lpool and getti the best coaching in there , as have said i feel big and strong at the weight i usually spar with lw anyways and handle them well so i no what to expect and if i didnt think i was big enough or good enough i wouldn be getin in there , oliver harison beleives in me so thats all count and i still beleive i have soothin to give boxing again cheers derry x

good luck with the comeback pal the problem with boxing is after a fighter loses a couple of fights all of a sudden they are rubbish or never any good in the first place if you still believe you have got it sod what people say or think you have had a good rest so i assume the batteries are charged up and your ready to go the lightweight division is looking very hot at the min theres some great fights out there for you good luck :TU:

I watched Derry's last fight on site and he looked shocking. Everyone knows that Scott isn't a puncher yet after a couple warming up rounds, he walked through Derry, teed him up and kept bombing till the referee had seen enough.

Its possible this lack of punch resistance is down to weight making, but i'm not so sure. Being brutally honest i just think Derry is fighting on empty now, after some very good wins earlier in his career. I don't foresee much success at 135 against stronger and harder hitting opposition, and in all honesty i think he'll get stopped again sooner rather than later.

However i don't blame him for giving it another go, he's had a rest and is still a young man so understandable he wants to give it another whirl. I wish him all the best and i certainly wouldn't mind being proven wrong on this one.
