Luke Wilton-Usman Ahmed - on the McDonnell undercard

Post by slapbangwhallop »

Most will only be interested in Ahmed's entrance to be honest.

But its an interesting wee rematch and the reason I am travelling to Doncaster on Friday.

Ahmed took the first leg but Wilton sounds really up for the return and lining up a shot at either Bayaar or Sexton thanks for Frank Maloney.

I seen Wilton fight Delroy Spencer on a Hyland card a few years ago, think it was his 2nd pro fight. I liked the look of Wilton, he obviously still had a lot to learn at that stage and I havn't seen him since to gauge his progress. Slappy, videocamera? :D

Uzzy didnt arrive for the weigh in on Thursday afternoon, then again for the Thursday evening weigh in, and then didn't arrive for the Friday noon weigh in. No other opponent could be found for Wilton at short notice. He was offered an opponent at 9st but the weight difference was far too much at 8st2 v 9st.

Also meant that Wilton who was due to weigh in on Thurday afternoon at the agreed bout weight had to maintain that weight until Friday noon.

I understand that his replacement was a previous opponent called Anwar Alfadli,Wilton didnt want the fight,so Maloney refused to put him on the bill.

A. What weight was Alfadli coming in at?

B. Wilton would and wanted to fight, he was correctly advised by his team not to fight someone that wasnt in his weight division.

C. "Maloney refused to put him on the bill" - thats an interesting away of putting it.

If Ahmed had turned up instead of making a variety of bullshít excuses then this would have been a non issue.

A. Alfadi was 9St.

B. Wilton wanted to fight, and would have given away a few lbs but not 10lbs after having to stay at 8St 2lbs from Thursdays arranged weigh in until Friday afternoon. Fight was made as 8st 2"

C. Maloney couldn't put him on the bill as he had no opponent. Maloney will have Wilton out again soon.

To me it looks like Uzzy just didnt want the fight. Wiltons team were messed around from tursdays arranged weigh in until Friday afternoon with Wilton maintaining his 8St 2 agreed weight.
