The internet is a great tool and it has the potential to draw more attention to amateur boxing than we realize. The internet has the potential to affect a small news website in the middle of nowhere as much as a major news website like ESPN. Internet traffic by clicking greatly impacts the content of a news site. Please bear with me as I break this down for you.
1. Advertising revenues
Most websites generate their revenue from the advertisers. The more clicks they get their advertiser, the greater the avenue for the website owner. So ideally, the website owner would want to draw in more traffic. Some websites will go out of hand with the most impossible annoying ads. However, such ads pay out a lot more than the simple boxed image. Some websites would even post stuff that's out of content for the purpose of drawing in more traffic, however Google does a great job of tracking websites who wishes to be listed in their search results. Google is known to blacklist out of control websites.
2. Content
Now a news site may cover many local sports and they tend to write based on the demand signified by the web traffic. Many internet writers will have a good feel of what's the hot topic or they may develop a following of their own based on their content.
3. Click for traffic
Ideally, the amateur boxing community has the potential to affect greater coverage of amateur boxing by just visiting the article to amateur boxing. If a small town newspaper normally averages 750-1,000 hits on their major sports article, imagine their response if they generate greater hits on a profile of their local boxer or coverage on a boxing event? It may not be possible for you to spend all of your time reading every news article on amateur boxing but just a click can go a long way.
4. FrontPageBoxing.com/amateurs
Now here's my spill on this. I'm not a corporation but just a boxing fan who is motivated by doing what I can to promote the sport. It's my way of giving back to the sport from the years I've enjoyed boxing. As we may know, boxing affects people outside of the ring in many positive ways. So the site is set up to post links to any amateur boxing articles I can find worldwide through the internet. I'm still perfecting my daily search so please feel free to send me any links my way.
I post the links to the articles on the amateur boxing page and I archive them in the archive page. The links may be broken if the news sites decide to take down the article. I'm not allowed to copy & paste the article as it is known to steal someone's work. Linking articles gives more exposure to the owner so it is usually appreciated.
Ideally, as traffic continues to increase to my site... it will direct the viewers to the many amateur boxing articles thus creating a greater demand for the subject over the world wide web.
5. Facebook
Facebook is another great tool that can be used to promote amateur boxing as well. I've created a fan page for boxing in every state of the USA. i.e. Front Page Boxing California, Front Page Boxing Nebraska, etc. The more fans there are on that page, the more attention it will draw to that content. For example... let's say Front Page Boxing Kansas has 2,000 fans. That will give a Kansas sports writer the incentive of 2,000 viewers who may click on his/her article about boxing. I've put together all of my fan pages onto a webpage of mine so a Facebook member wouldn't have to search for their area. Click on the logo.

That's my spill and thank you for your time.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions, ideas, or help to promote your boxing site.
Sincerely,
Jon Thyng
